Tsunami – The Rest of the Story

Today Author’s Secrets is participating in the blogfest for Tsunami Crimes, Chrys Fey’s new release, third in her Disaster series. Don’t forget to scroll down to the bottom of this post to enter the Rafflecopter.

Our instructions were to create an entertaining tale fantastical, or fictional  interview of a  tsunami survivor.  I chose fun and fantastical. I don’t mean in any way to downplay the devastation and danger of a tsunami, but here we go.

“This is Chrys Fey reporting for Disaster 5 News. I am in Hawaii where a tsunami hit yesterday morning. I have Stormy Weathers with me, a survivor of the tsunami. Stormy, can you tell our viewers what happened, and how you survived?”

“It was a friggin’ fiery wave,” Stormy said.

“Fiery wave?”the-flight-of-dragons-polet

“Yes, the crest of the wave was fringed with fire. It was at least sixty feet high and headed right for us. Before it hit the shore, a flight of twenty-four enormous iridescent dragons came out of nowhere, scattered across the sky. Twelve of them lined up wing tip to wing tip in front of the crashing wave, the beating of their enormous wings caused a back draft that slowed the huge wall of water.

The rest of the winged creatures breathed fire over the water, that’s where the fringe of fire came from. The combination lessened the impact. By the time the tsunami actually hit, it was only about half the size of the original.  It slammed into the southern part of the island.  It was still devastating, boats sitting on roof tops, people clinging to lamp poles and huge trees ripped from the ground. Cries, screams.” Stormy covered her ears with her hands. “It was terrible.”

“You were…are… in shock,” Chrys suggested, glancing around at the other survivors gathering in the still flooded path where she stood.

Chrys’ eyebrows rose nearly to her hairline, she shook her head. “So….did you talk to Poseidon?”images

“As a matter of fact I did.  He said he was sorry for the tsunami. The hundred-year hatching of the endangered dragons emerged ahead of schedule.  Their eggs were buried in the Pacific Ocean, you know. Anyway, the combination of the hatching and celebration by the adult dragons swirling in the water caused the tsunami.  Which is why there was no warning, no event preceeding the tsunami.”

Chrys rolled her eyes at her cameraman. “Let me get this straight. A flight of dragons caused, and tried to stop the tsunami. Poseidon himself apologized for the disaster and you are the only one who saw this.” She threw her arms up in the air. “Unbelievable. Pack it in Sam.” Suddenly, Sam, the cameraman, started pointing behind her at the ocean. “Chrys…Chrys…”

Stormy’s eyes widened, she gawked over Chry’s shoulder, then relocated to her side and snatched the cell phone from her hand. “Mind if I take a selfie? It’s not every day you see Poseidon himself riding a wave atop an iridescent dragon.” Stormy stared at the cameraman. “You are getting this, right?”

Speechless, Sam nodded.

Chrys whirled around, dropped the mic, and screamed as they were buzzed by a flight of dragons. “Don’t you dare drop that camera,”  she commanded to Sam and scooped up the mic, pushed her long damp hair from her face, smiled into the camera and said, “Chrys Fey reporting live from the south shore for Disaster 5 News.”

Now the real Tsunami Crimes, by Chrys Fey. It’s quite a story!  One, I truly enjoyed.

tsunamicrimes_w11205_750Beth and Donovan have come a long way from Hurricane Sabrina and the San Francisco earthquake. Now they are approaching their wedding day and anxiously waiting to promise each other a lifetime of love. The journey down the aisle isn’t smooth, though, as they receive threats from the followers of the notorious criminal, Jackson Storm. They think they’ll be safe in Hawaii, but distance can’t stop these killers. Not even a tsunami can.

This monstrous wave is the most devastating disaster Beth has ever faced. It leaves her beaten, frightened. Is she a widow on her honeymoon? As she struggles to hold herself together and find Donovan, she’s kidnapped by Jackson’s men.

Fearing her dead, Donovan searches the rubble and shelters with no luck. The thought of her being swept out to sea is almost too much for him to bear, but the reality is much worse. She’s being used as bait to get him to fall into a deadly trap.

If they live through this disaster, they may never be the same again.
