A Few of My Favorite Things #L&SR’s Weekly Blog Challenge
Welcome to #L&SR’s Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge for January 26, 2021. Today’s topic is a few of my favorite things. So many to choose from, but I ‘ll try to narrow it down! Pull up a chair, grab a drink. Take your choice of a Chocolate Chip, Snickerdoodle, or Peanut Butter cookie from the plate and let me share a few of my favorite things!
Thunderstorms (without hail). I love how the lightning streaks across the sky, rain falls on the windows, thunder rattles the house and windows. Night time storms are the best for watching. In Colorado those things are frequent, unfortunately they sometimes come with golf or softball size hail. The fact those happen, have somewhat tempered my enthusiasm. But not entirely.
Camping and hiking in state and national parks – Nothing more relaxing than camping in the middle of a mountain forest with wildlife all around. But not too close. A eight point buck elk at the front door of our fifth wheel trailer was a bit unnerving. LOL
An afternoon spent sitting soaking up the sun in our sunroom with my parrot playing on her play stands conversing with me and the birds outside.
Long walks around the neighborhood with my dog. Its fun to see what the neighbors have been up to. In the Spring it’s delightful to see new plant sprouts poking out of the earth preparing for summer.
Curled up in front of a roaring fire with a good book, bowl of popcorn, and a mug of hot chocolate with lots of marshmallows.
There you have a few of my favorite things. How about you? What are a few of your favorite things?

The Salem Wildlife Sanctuary is Gwen Taylor’s life work. Her Irish Gypsy heritage provides a hidden talent she uses to help the creatures under her care. But even her magical skills can’t help new rescues in dire need of veterinary care.
The opportunity of signing on as the vet for Gwen’s sanctuary dropped into Brock Scutter’s lap after he expanded his practice to include wildlife. The personal attraction he and Gwen experience is undeniable the more their professional and personal lives collide.
Touring the only “non-haunted” house in Salem they both feel a spark of magic. A trip to his family’s cabin uncovers a heritage he didn’t know existed. If they want a future together, it means facing the consequences of awakening hidden Gypsy magic and a race against the clock to correct past wrongs.
Hope to see you next week when we’ll explore the most romantic book or movie ever. How about you? What’s your most romantic book or movie ever?

I love thunderstorms, too. Good one!
Thanks for stopping by Lydia!
Absolutely NOTHING is like a thunderstorm in Colorado. It was an eye-opening experience for me when I moved there. And they happen on a nearly daily basis in the summer…I had wooden lean-tos for my tomato plants to protect them from the hail…
I like your list 🙂
Yep Colorado Thunder storms are something. My garden is covered to let the sun in but to protect from the hail. Glad you stopped in Marianne!
I love camping, too! Nothing quite like being surrounded by trees and nature, although I agree, the wildlife can be close without getting too close. lol Beautiful sunroom!
Enjoy your writing. 🙂
Thank you for stopping by Stephanie! The sunroom is my haven. LOL
I absolutely LOVE a good, long thunderstorm. They seemed to be more frequent down in our neck of the woods when I was a kid. When I see the dark clouds rolling in, I always hope for a good storm…they seem to clear cobwebs out of my head.
We have a side porch we’re hoping to glass in sooner rather than later…I’m jealous! 🙂
Love my sunroom. Spend a lot of time out there. Colorado Thunderstorms are something! LOL Yep I agree on clearing the cobwebs and leaving such a wonderful rain-washed smell to the air. Glad you stopped in Judy!
Congrats on the new contract and the nomination. You’re a super-star, Tena.
Awww… thank you for the kind words! I certainly appreciate them. Glad you stopped by Sandra!
Five years exiled to Texas going to college and Seminary cured me of liking thunderstorms. I remember fishing in a number of lakes in Colorado with my Grandfather. It’s a great place to catch trout.
Never fished. I can’t sit still that long. LOL Too bad about the thunderstorms. LOL Thanks for stopping in Patrick!
I love thunderstorms on Sunday nights, where I’m tucked in the house, relaxing before work starts up again on Monday, ideally with a fire going. The pandemic has taken a little of that away since I’m always tucked in my house, but used to be a real pleasure for me.
Nothing better than watching a thunderstorm with a bowl of popcorn and mug of hot chocolate. Tucked in the house isn’t much fun any more. Thanks for stopping by Shari!
I love thunderstorms! Unfortunately, I live in the desert so rain is a treat I don’t get very often. Excellent list though!
My post
Thank you for stopping by Aymee! But your rain does ccme with thunderstorms sometimes?
Sometimes, although not very often!
Your sunroom sounds like a great place for creative inspiration! And new spring growth is one of my favorite things as well.
Oh the sunroom is heaven. Everyone should have one. LOL I’m so ready for spring. Thanks for stopping by Kathleen!
Oooh! Thunderstorms and long walks are my cup of tea too. There’s just something that’s so relaxing about each. Great post!
Thank you for stopping by Morgan! Seems long walks and thunderstorms are favorites among several people. So we are in good company! LOL
I forgot to add camping to my list! Great idea 🙂
Colletta
I love this list — particularly thunderstorms. (I tend to open the windows immediately afterwards and just savor that smell — like the whole world is suddenly clean.) I miss camping and hiking something fierce, too.
You know you have my unconditional vote! You are the BEST EVER!
I love my doggle, too. She loves camping. I never thought she would, but she does. I guess I better start liking it, since she does. 🙂 Great post!
