#L&SR’s #Wednesday’s Blog Challenge 3.11.20 One Skill I Wish I Had But Don’t

Welcome to #L&SR’s #Wednesday’s Blog Challenge 3-4-2020 One Skill I Wish I had But Don’t.  Wow, so many so little time. LOL Please have a seat, grab a hot chocolate and chocolate chip cookie. Lets get started.,

My spatial concept abilities are terrible.  Someone will describe something to me in detail but unless I can see a picture of it, I can’t envision it. Is that a skill?

Painting or drawing.  Here, i have the opposite problem. I see this beautiful picture in my mind, and am unable to put it on paper or canvas. I am so jealous or in awe of those who have the artistic ability.

So there you have it, one skill, ok I cheated and listed two, I wish I had but don’t!

Alas, I must return to my writing cave where deadlines loom on a new WIP (very exciting and coming along very well) so let’s see what other authors list as their One Skill I Wish I had But Don’t . L&SR

What one or maybe two skills do you wish you had but don’t Please list them in the comments.

A Warlock’s Secrets came to fruition after several readers and a couple of reviewers asked or assumed Tristian’s story was next in the Demon’s Witch Series. In truth, I’d never considered writing his story. He was the Demon Overlords enforcer/assassin, for heaven’s sake. After delving into who he really is and what he wants, come to find out, he has a strong moral compass and when love comes his way he is fiercely protective and everything Hannah is looking for in a forever relationship. A Warlock’s Secrets, second book in the Demon’s Witch Series is on sale for 99¢ for a limited time.!Join in the adventure and download your copy today!

Years ago, a sacred ceremony at the Dragon’s Moon Coven turned deadly. Son of the high priestess, Tristian Shandie’s life changed forever. With a price on his head and revenge in his heart, he has no choice but to follow in his father’s footsteps to a profession shrouded in secrets. Now his skills as an enforcer for the Demon Overlord are second to none. But dangerous secrets he harbors are a liability he can no longer afford.

A chance meeting with a woman he finds irresistible flips Tristian’s world upside down. Hannah is a cyber security specialist with secrets of her own. Bad boys never appealed to her until Tristian, who changes everything. In his darkest hours, she is dragged into his magical world.

If they survive, is she strong enough to heal his heart and tame the warlock? Or will their secrets destroy them?

Thanks for popping in. I really appreciate it. Then next week, March 11th, we take a look at One skill I wish I had but don’t.  Boy that’s going to be interesting!

Welcome to #L&SR’s #Wednesday’s Blog Challenge 3-4-2020 Characters that Remind Me of Myself & Why

Welcome to #L&SR’s #Wednesday’s Blog Challenge 3-4-2020 Characters that Remind Me of Myself & Why.  Wow, had to think on that one for a bit. Please have a seat, grab a hot chocolate and chocolate chip cookie. Lets get started.,

First character that comes to mind is my own Mercy from Mystic Maples.  Her curiosity is always getting her into trouble. Yeah, I claim that character trait. Mom insisted that I would outgrow it. Wrong! My overactive imagination combined with curiosity is a potent combination for a paranormal, romance, mystery writer. Anything can happen and usually does.

Next character would be Bo from TroubleMaker, by Linda Howard. Strong of character, smart, loyal, and wary.

Let’s move on to TV characters, Judge Lola Carmichael on All Rise. Our physical characteristics may be different, but our search for truth, unwavering commitment, and feistiness fit to a T.

Movies, Wonderwoman – Gal Gadot – Yeah don’t we all wish. LOL Anyway, stubborn, loyal, determined. We share those traits.

So there you have it,Characters that Remind Me of Myself & Why!

Alas, I must return to my writing cave where deadlines loom on a new WIP (very exciting) so let’s see what other authors list which Characters that Remind Me of Myself and Why. L&SR

Which character reminds you of you? Please list them in the comments.

Buyer Beware! Shop Around for Big Ticket Items!

Buyer beware! Shop around before you purchase big ticket items. Yep, I always live by those phrases.  Also if it is too good to be true, it probably is.

Okay I admit it, I’ve yanked out my soap box out from under my bed on this post.  Yesterday, I contacted a well know car audio shop in the market for a car alarm. Of course I’d done my homework and knew what the cost of the alarm was before installation.  Well aware that labor costs are required to install the item.  BUT, first off the salesman quoted us what appeared to be a fair price. When we arrived, the price escalated from $299.00 to $1,000.00  Ridiculous!  Mamma didn’t raise no sucker.

Walked outside and make a phone call to a different retailer. Another reasonable price quoted. Went back inside and confronted the salesman and said I was leaving. He then dropped the price $100.00 and threw in a remote start which we didn’t want or need. He was told I had just found the same exact item for less than half what he was now charging. Not interested in his way of doing business. On the way out the door, the man said “I know where you going and they are going to tell you one thing then after it’s installed charge you what I’m charging you.”

So the only thing to do was be upfront with the next retailer. Told him what had happened, what had been said and informed him the price quoted was what would be paid. No more.

The man at place number two nodded. “That’s how we do business.”  A few hours later we drove off with the exact car alarm installed for the reasonable price quoted.  Still steamed that we were treated that way by retailer number one, Drive-In Auto Sound.  So buyer beware.

Okay, climbing down off my soap box and shoving it back under the bed. It’s been a long time since I’ve had that happen. Yep, still makes me furious.  It’s a shame. Don’t you think?

That’s it for this post on “My Say What Blog”.  Have a great weekend!

Forged In Fire Champion Weston Paas

Weston at Hearts Fire Forge in Black Forest

Today I have something entirely different to share with you. Meet Weston Paas, Forged in Fire Champion.   I had the opportunity to attend the watch party at Kilroy’s Workshop in Colorado Springs. My family and I are avid fans of Forged in Fire. To quote a famous bladesmith, “It’s a show on History Channel about fire, and sharp, pointy objects,” a few of our favorite things.

Pull up a chair, grab a drink of your choice from the cooler, a Chocolate Chip or Peanut Butter cookie from the plate, and let’s find out a little about Weston and his journey to Forged In Fire Champion, Season 7, Episode 22.

Weston is a Bladesmith, Blacksmith, Ironworker and Welder born and raised in Aspen, Colorado, with a degree in business and hotel management. Now if that doesn’t beat all. He took a class in bladesmithing and was hooked. He owns Heart Fire Forge in Black Forest, Colorado. Weston is the most-down-to-earth, pleasant person you’d ever want to meet.

At the watch party there was a long table of delicious snacks and drinks set up in the reception area of Kilroy’s Workshop. In the main area chairs and a big screen TV were set up for the attendees viewing pleasure.

After the watch party Weston with his extra Zulu War Axe without the handle.

While we watched the episode, Weston would stop the program and tell us how it all really went down. It’s an exercise in hurry up and wait spending a lot of time in a tiny room. LOL Interviews snippets are done separate from the actually filming of the competition. After winning the second round, Weston was sent to his home forge in Colorado Springs to craft a Zulu War Axe in four days. At the same time his competitor was sent to his home forge not in Colorado to do the same. <Grin>

Ultimately, Weston’s Zulu War Axe won and he was named Forged in Fire Champion which came with a check for ten thousand dollars. Quoting Weston again. “Man I LOVE my job.” It’s his passion – his heart’s fire, thus the name of his company Heart’s Fire Forge. Can you blame him? How many of us can say that?

Well now that I brought it up, I can. Being an author is my dream job and my passion. Which brings me to my latest book CHARM ME AGAIN about a warlock who is a bladesmith and unwittingly discovers his anvil and hammer are magical instruments of the craft passed down without the story from an ancestor centuries ago. (I know you were wondering how I was going to get a pitch in for my books.) Hehe. Clever huh?

The difference between Weston and my character is Daylan forges magical swords, daggers used to slay evil demons and protect the innocent.  Not sure Weston has ever met an evil demon (I forgot to ask), but…Weston’s swords and knives are a credit to his craftsmanship. He may need a little coaching in the magic department. (Yes he was warned there might be a comparison to my character. With raised eyebrows Weston laughed.) Funny I get that a lot.

If you are interested check out Forged in Fire, Season 7, Episode 22 you can find it on the internet. Also if you want a sword, blade or envision something unusual, check out Weston’s Heart’s Fire Forge webpage or facebook page. Give him a shout!  Pssst… he also teaches his craft at Kilroy’s Workshop.
