Captain Jack Alexander.
I’ve been told women on a ship are unlucky, but this one has the two pieces of the map I need to finally claim Sea Wraith. Now I find myself in a deal that makes me one-third partner with her and a known scoundrel.
Can the two unlikely allies work together while safeguarding their hearts against the power of the Mortar and Pestle?
If you like Lara Croft and Indiana Jones, you’ll love Zahra Corbyn and Jack Alexander.

Sea Hunter by DV Stone was an entertaining read with quirky characters, sizzling chemistry, and archeological mystery. Reminds me a little bit of the Indiana Jones Movies with an element of mystical magic. I love magic. I also love an author that immerses you in the story and scenes, so you feel like you are there with the characters experiencing their adventures as they happen.
I enjoyed the banter between the sharp-tongued hero, Jack, and heroine, Zahra, who is always ready to go toe to toe with him. Zahra wants to locate the sunken Sea Wraith for its educational artifacts while Jack is a treasure hunter, purely in it for the money. Who will win or will they share? Purchase a copy of Sea Hunter and find out. No spoilers here.
I highly recommend Sea Hunter to those who enjoy face-paced treasure hunter themed books with snarky and witty repartee between the characters.

Jazz House by D.V. Stone
Give a warm welcome to D.V. Stone, author of Jazz House, second book in the impact series. Pull up a chair, grab a drink of your choice from the cooler, a Chocolate Chip or Peanut Butter cookie from the plate, and let’s find out a little about D.V. Stone and Jazz House. D.V. Stone take it away!
Standing The Gap
Several years ago, I took the NaNoWriMo challenge. November is National Novel Writing Month. Thirty days-fifty Thousand words. Long story short, I accomplished the task only because of writing what I knew. What did I know?
I’ve been surrounded by blue uniforms, okay, sometimes black, for forty years. Some with stripes, some without. Some have helmets, and some don’t. But all have one thing in common. They willingly give of themselves twenty-four hours a day, three hundred sixty-five days a year. Leave the family gatherings on holidays. Snow, ice, temperatures either too hot or too cold. They protect, rescue, and often pick up the pieces of someone’s life.
Early in the 1980s, I began my First Responder life as a professional and volunteer Emergency Medical Technician. One of my strongest memories is responding to a call in my coverage area. My partner and I were the only all-female crew at the time. The tones went off, and so did we. A short while later, a simple unconscious male became a potentially violent situation. The man woke, and people from all the housing around us came out and egged him on to strike out at us. My partner got rolled by him, but I was able to radio for help. Let me tell you, I was never so happy to see red lights and blue uniforms.
First Responders, from EMTs to Firefighters and Law Enforcement, have a special bond. When things go south as they often do, we count on each other to protect, minister, and save each other from tricky situations.
One of my long-term positions was as an EMT in an NJ State Prison. In 1994 I married a Correction Officer and volunteer Firefighter. Now we’re both retired.
My first book Rock House Grill was the fifty-thousand-word novel I alluded to above. It’s considered romantic suspense and has, you guessed it, EMTs, paramedics, and police. The second book now under contract, with a release date of August 21, 2022, is titled Jazz House. Police Officer Michael Machau is the main character.
Michael is a composite of so many officers in my life. He’s honorable, compassionate, and kind. He loves friends and family. He goes above and beyond to help his community. In today’s climate, so many believe the opposite. One evening, in a chat with other authors, another writer stated she was researching in a county jail. She said she was more afraid of the cops than the inmates. I called her out on it because if we don’t as a society hold people accountable for their reckless vernacular, they can influence others.
You know, not every cop is great. Neither is any EMT, Firefighter, or citizen. The fraction of a percent who are, unfortunately, are the ones we hear about. That’s what makes the news, news. Because the other ninety-nine percent are a Michael Machau. Honorable, compassionate, and kind.
Shh, I’m going to tell a secret. I know you. Most of you anyway. You love, care, and run to danger every day despite the world’s ugliness. You make a difference even when others don’t or refuse to see it. Through my writing, sorry but I’m going to out you, tell the world you all are big teddy bears. Many are grizzlies on the outside, but inside, where it counts? Koala bears.
Though I no longer respond to calls (I gave it up quite a few years ago), the blue uniform continues to be a constant in my life. My son is now a correction officer as well. Many of our friends still suit up every day. Hubby is a Life Member of the fire department and, until last year, still taught fire prevention in the local schools. Me? I tell stories about superheroes. Ones who don’t wear capes but uniforms. Who don’t leap tall buildings but rush into those buildings. Who when others are running from danger, run to it.
Thank you to all those who stand the gap. Protecting, serving, consoling, and keeping the rest of us from harm.
Wonderful D.V., I’m right there with you! Now tell us a little about Jazz House.
Jordan Vasilakis is on the run, living under an assumed name. After a disastrous marriage to a notorious Greek business tycoon, she flees to the States and starts rebuilding her life. But her ruthless husband is determined to destroy her…once he finds her.
Michael Machau is drawn to the new singer at Jazz House restaurant, but the guarded woman is harboring dangerous secrets. The dedicated police officer may have to risk more than just his heart to forge a connection with the woman he knows as Madeline Cielo, especially when he discovers she’s living a lie.
Worlds collide. Lies entangle. Survival, much less love, is in question. They must quickly distinguish friends from enemies or risk losing everything—including a future together.
Make good choices. Jordan Vasilakis’s mother’s voice rang through her mind. Though she tried, sometimes things went terribly wrong.
Jazz House is the second book in the Impact Series, due out August 31, 2022. The first book in the series is Rock House Grill. While Jazz House stands on its own, I believe you’d enjoy reading both books.
Jordan now living under an assumed name, is on the run after a disastrous marriage to a notorious Greek Business Tycoon. She flees to the United State and procures a job as a Jazz Singer that will change her life. (no spoilers here)
Michael falls for the beautiful singer, at first sight. Unfortunately, he has no idea her past could get them both killed.
I love to be drawn into a story, so you feel like you lived and experienced the tale. The characters in Jazz House do exactly that from page one to the end taking you with them every step of the story. The scene description is superb, so you feel, see, and smell everything. Hard book to put down, even in the wee hours of the morning.
If you enjoy Romantic Suspense, Jazz house is for you. You’ll also enjoy Rock House Grill. So what are you waiting for? Pick up both books! You’ll be glad you did.
Jazz House gets 5+stars from me.
A sneak peek between the pages of Jazz House.
Jordan scrambled to the other side of the limo.
“You sing good tonight.” He scrolled through his phone.
“Yes, Kyrios.”
Outside the window, massive cruise ships docked in the port. Happy older people made their way up the gangplanks toting bags filled with souvenirs, while the younger ones debarked dressed for the nightlife. Sparkly sequins flashed like diamonds as one young woman twirled on the pier.
God, how had she come to this life? She willed her hovering tears not to fall. Kyrios wouldn’t approve.
When she was offered a place in the touring group ten years ago, she thought it was the beginning of great things. Standing in the cabaret with the lights shining down was her dream come true. When she was the woman in the sparkly dress.
Until he showed up.
Each night, Kyrios Vasilakis, Greek business tycoon, sat at the front table watching her. Yes, he was older but so very handsome. Dark hair with silver at the temples, he cut a dashing figure in his black suits.
Jordan began to sing to him. It was the beginning of the end. After a whirlwind romance, she found herself a prisoner in marriage to a brute.

99 Cent Sale Rock House Grill by D.V. Stone
Give a warm welcome to D.V. Stone, author of the award winning Rock House Grill, Book one of the Impact Series. We are celebrating Rock House Grill’s first birthday with a 99 cent sale. Grab your copy today! Pull up a chair, grab a drink of your choice from the cooler, a Chocolate Chip or Peanut Butter cookie from the plate, and let’s find out a little about D.V. Stone and her Rock House Grill!
Does life inspire writing? Absolutely! Hi, my name is Donna, and I write as D. V. Stone, and I’m so happy to be here today. Former parts of my life inspire the book Rock House Grill as an Emergency Medical Technician and small restaurant owner. And workplace romance? Yep, though mine was a bit different. I’m happily married for twenty-six years. So where was I twenty-seven years ago? In prison.
Ha, got ya!
I was an EMT in a women’s state prison. Newly divorced, my co-workers conspired to fix me up with a New Boot. Yes, he was cute, but I was still recovering from a nasty divorce a year earlier. The last thing I was looking for was a romantic relationship. Well, those nurses and correction officers where sure this guy was the one for me. They insisted he wanted to go on a date with me, and to get them off my back, I finally agreed. Come to find out they were pestering him too. These would be matchmakers kept telling him, “Donna, the EMT (that’s how I was referred to by everyone, including inmates) wants to go out with you.”
Well, our first date was my annual squad dinner in March. Guess what? They were right. We became inseparable and engaged by May and the following May married.
Many years later, as a couple, we invested in a coffee shop called Heavenly Brew, which is in a scene from my book. We also bought a small restaurant.
In another interesting coincidence of real-life mimicking fiction, during the time I was writing about Aden’s recovery from leg injuries, my dear Pete was too. Talk about hands-on research.
Now a little about the Rock House Grill!
Aden House, successful but driven chef and TV personality, refuses to slow down. His life implodes one night, damaging him both physically and emotionally. He’s rescued by a woman he thinks of as his angel.
Shay McDowell has rebuilt her life after her divorce. She juggles volunteer EMT duties and her job, while dreaming of becoming a chef. She finds her way to Rock House Grill and back into the life of the man she helped save.
Can love be the ingredient needed to survive the many obstacles they face?
My Thoughts:
Rock House Grill is a totally entertaining read. The charismatic characters jump right off the pages. Each one’s woven circumstances into the main story, will have you turning pages to discover what effects each has on the other and the outcome of the tale. A tragic beginning has a fortuitous intervention. This is a heartwarming story of hope, perseverance, second chances, and a belief that everything happens for a reason. I love the never-give-up theme entwined throughout this book regardless of what occurs.
The author’s scene-setting and descriptions will leave you feeling like you’ve experienced the story’s twists and turns, ups and downs, right along with the characters. My favorite kind of a book. I highly recommend this book.
So what are you waiting for? Whether you read romance, suspense, or something in-between, add Rock house Grill to your list of must-read books.
5+ stars
How about a quick peek between the pages of Rock House Grill?
“Easy, you’re going to be okay.” A soft voice eased through the chaos around him. The owner of the voice grabbed his arms and held them in a firm but gentle grip. “I’m right here with you. You are not alone.” “Can hardly m-move.” His voice slurred. “C-can’t see anything.” “You’ve been in an accident. I’m an EMT with the ambulance squad,” the velvety voice calmly explained. “You can’t see well because we’re under a tarp. Hold still, okay?” “‘K.” A small light flickered at the edge of his vision. It shone into a bag next to him. Penlight. “You’re restrained to a board. It’s to keep your head from moving and causing more injury.” She continued to talk to him. The voice reached down somewhere inside him, calming and peaceful, so he focused on it. A glow from spotlights on the outside lit whatever covered them. The shadow gave the woman the appearance of a halo—like an angel.

About the Author
Hi, my name is D. V. Stone. I am a multi-genre author of two independently published books. Felice, Shield-Mates of Dar is a fantasy romance. Agent Sam Carter and the Mystery at Branch Lake is a mid-grade paranormal. Recently, Rock House Grill was released by Wild Rose Press. Rainbow Sprinkles, a novella released on July 8th. I also host Welcome to the Campfire and A Peek Through the Window, both weekly blogs. Here’s a little more about me.
Born in Brooklyn, D.V. Stone has moved around a bit and even lived for a time on a dairy farm in Minnesota before moving back east. Throughout her wandering, she always considered herself a Jersey Girl. She met and married the love of her life, Pete—a lifelong Jersey Man, and moved this time to Sussex County. They live with Hali, a mixed breed from the local shelter, and their cat Baby.
D.V.’s career path varied from working with the disabled to become a volunteer EMT, which in turn led to working in hospital emergency rooms and then in a women’s state prison. After a few years, she took a break from medicine and became the owner of Heavenly Brew, a specialty coffee shop in Sparta, NJ, and a small restaurant in Lafayette. Life handed some setbacks. She ended up back in the medical field, but this time in a veterinary emergency hospital.
“Thank you for taking the time to read about me. Each time you open the pages to one of my books, I hope you’ll be swept away by the story and find encouragement in your own life, never to give up on hope.”

Rainbow Sprinkles by D.V. Stone
Give a warm welcome to D.V. Stone, author of Rainbow Sprinkles, One Scoop or Two Series by The Wild Rose Press. Pull up a chair, grab a drink of your choice from the cooler, a Chocolate Chip or Peanut Butter cookie from the plate, and let’s find out a little about DV and her Rainbow Sprinkles. Great to have you DV. I see you’ve brought a guest.
Yes, this is Gloriana Jones from Rainbow Sprinkles.
Nice to meet you Gloriana! Got time for a few questions?
“Sure.”
Ok lets start with, who are you really?
Tell us three things we’d find if we looked under your bed?
Usually nothing. But when Nathan came over for our first date I was in such a panic, that I kicked all my discarded outfits under there. Maybe some dust bunnies.
What makes you laugh out loud?
Basset Hounds especially my neighbor’s woeful pair Fred and Sadie
What makes you angry?
When people are careless of others’ feelings. Especially when they say mean things and follow it with It’s just a joke or I was kidding. Passive-aggressive behavior is a hot button of mine
What do you sleep in at night?
Girl, I’m a woman of a certain age. Your body changes. When I was young I was always cold. Now a cami and boxers
Who were the biggest role models in your life?
My late husband, Frank. His joy in life was making other people happy. My other is my best friend Lt. Janet. She showed me how a woman could do a tough job with grace and dignity.
What kind of man do you want to spend the rest of your life with?
Nathan James. He is kind and sweet. A little bit awkward but he makes me laugh.
What kind of man would you never choose?
I don’t care for someone who is bossy or thinks a woman should be secondary. I also don’t believe in the 50/50 idea in relationships. Both sides need to give 100% as much as possible and then be understanding when their partner falls short occasionally.
What is most important to you in life?
ICE CREAM! Lol, but it is important. Honesty, integrity, kindness, and faith.
What is your biggest fear?
Spiders, I even hate talking about them. I also worry about my business.
DV, Tell us a little about writing this story. Was it fun or difficult? Do your characters always act as you expect? Are you a plotter, or fly (write) by the seat of your pants?
My publisher, Wild Rose Press called for short beach read types of stories with ice cream as the main ingredient. The name Gloriana Jones was rolling around my mind. Since I have experience with owning my own ice cream place it was a match made in heaven… or a least over the Rainbow.
Thank you both so much for stopping by. How about telling us a little about Rainbow Sprinkles? I just love that title! LOL
After the rain comes the rainbows.
Retired from the Department of Corrections, Gloriana Jones is forging on with the plans she and her now-deceased husband dreamed of—bringing joy and happiness one ice cream cone at a time to Lake Unami. Bad weather is drowning her dream, though. Rainbow Sprinkles is losing money. Gloriana wonders how she and the shop will survive.
A trip to upstate NY to see his first granddaughter is bittersweet for Nathan James. Without his wife, he’s lonely. Though he is filling his days with work as a private business consultant, he’s left empty and unfulfilled. When his car breaks down, the only light he sees is coming from an ice cream shop on the boardwalk.
With the aid of two guardian angels, electricity sparks, but will the two weather the summer storms and find love a second time? Or will all their hopes and dreams melt away?
A sneak peek between the pages of Rainbow Sprinkles.
“Do you mind if I wait until the tow truck gets here?” He plucked the wet shirt away from his chest with the long fingers of one tanned hand. “It must be electrical, even the radio stopped working.”
“No, you’re welcome to hang around as long as you need.” Gloriana riffled through a cardboard box under the counter, pulled out an extra-large t-shirt, and tossed it to him. “Here you go. The restroom is through there.”
Mr. Gorgeous beamed a perfect toothy smile. “Thanks. I’ll be right back.”
When he disappeared into the hallway, and the door clicked shut, Gloriana fanned her face. What the hot fudge was wrong with her? “Coffee. Make coffee.”
