Halloween only Fifty-Seven days left!  Can you believe it? Toil and Trouble continue their search for the Halloween Spirit. What do you think of the Halloween count down calendar??  I’ve something a bit different for you this year count down to Halloween with a quest for the Halloween Spirit.

No, it’s never to early for All Hallows Eve!  Halloween is my favorite time of year. Cooler weather, sight and sound of colorful leaves falling or crunching under foot. The smell of fall in the air, pumpkins and pumpkin flavored everything!! Love it! Also Halloween is the only day you can be anyone or anything  you want and no one will say a word.  Don’t forget it’s the day the veil between the living and the dead is the thinnest! What will you be this Halloween?  Taco our parrot will be a witch and Mystic our chow dog will be Wonder Woman.  Check back to see them in their costumes!

Well, September came with a sweltering 92 degrees as I continue my annual countdown until Halloween. I am confident  things cool off soon. Keep the faith!  To help me this year are skeletons,  Toil (Unicorn) and Trouble (dragon) they are in search of the Halloween Spirit. This week  they crawled all over our parrot’s cage and enlisted the help of Taco. While she wasn’t thrilled with them, she did assist them in their task. I caught a picture of them plotting their next moves.  Unfortunately, there was no Halloween Spirit to be found. Darn it! So the search continues.

Their friend, Dave (Skeleton), from Texas (thank you Jessica) got trashed and was no help at all this week. Come on Dave we only have fifty-eight days to find the Halloween spirit.  He still has trouble with what day it is as well., fifty-seven days Dave!

Each week, on Friday, there will be new pictures of where Toil and Trouble are searching and how Dave is helping.  In the month of October beside their search for the Halloween Spirit, Toil, Trouble and Dave will help me list the most haunted cities in America. A visit to haunted places in Colorado, my own stomping ground, Spooktacular tips to keep your pet safe this Halloween season. Do you suffer from Samhainopobia? I’ll tell you later. These are  just to name a few.  Please check back!

Only fifty-seven days until Halloween! Bwwwaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

Plus a Halloween themed book from my collection will be featured each week:  You do know I write paranormal romance/mystery. Right? This week, we are talking about vampires!  What’s Halloween without vampires and things that go bump in the night? A Vampire’s Unlikely Alliance is on tao. So hurry grab your copy and join the #fantasy #adventure! You won’t believe what happens at Glacier National Park to induce a trip to Ireland.

Halloween Spirit vampire styleA little about A Vampire’s Unlikely Alliance:

Stefan is a Native American vampire, former assassin for the Vampire Council. In a twist of fate, he now DJ’s the midnight shift for a small radio station in Whitefish, Montana, on the edge of Glacier National Park where his secret is safe until…

Born in Ireland, Brandy now works as a park ranger and trail guide in the park. During a full moon, Stefan and Brandy’s paths cross in a near physical collision on a trail. Their attraction is immediate and undeniable, almost as if fate demanded it.

Their union was foretold long ago in Irish folk tales where vampires and gryphons, warlocks and demons, witches and faeries must work together for the good of man and magic kind. Is a trip to Ireland the key to unraveling secrets and returning the magic? And even more importantly, will their love survive the trip?

A sneak peek between the pages of A Vampire’s Unlikely Alliance!

The sun slid behind the mountains, setting the azure sky ablaze in hues of red, orange, yellow, and pink. Then red shifted to purple and dusk faded to darkness as he jogged toward the trails. She stood leaning against the rock where he had started his run last night. He’d tried to convince himself to stay away, but in the end, the urge was too strong.

In a whisper of movement, he was at her side with his hand on the rock just above her shoulder. “Waiting for someone? Brandy, is it?” The scent of warm, perfumed female skin wafted over him as he leaned into her.

“It took you long enough, Mr. Talltree.” Her full lips formed a slight pout as she lifted her chin and tilted her face up to meet his. “Nice to see you again.”

There was no hesitation or apprehension in her lovely features as he moved closer, placing his other hand next to her left shoulder, effectively pinning her against the rock. He wanted to wrap his arms around her lithe, warm body and brush his lips over her sexy pout. But he thought better of it, not wanting to scare her off…not yet.

“Yes, it is.” He let his gaze wander leisurely up and down her luscious body. “Didn’t your mother warn you about the dangers of stalking a stranger at night in the park alone?”

See you back here next Friday! You won’t believe where Toil and Trouble wound up. And Dave gets tangled in the deadliest catch! Until then enjoy the warm weather, fall is coming bringing with it Halloween Spirit! Yippee!! Now all we have to do is find it! While you’re here, check out my other paranormal romance mysteries

Dirty Dancing

First let me explain that I love everything paranormal. So having said that, these are my choices. Except Dirty Dancing, it’s just plain so ROMANTIC for mortals!  LOL

Most romantic movie ever:  I have two that tied for most romantic movie ever Ghost and Dirty Dancing. Click on the titles and see the trailers.

Discovery of Witches

Now lets take a gander at most romantic book ever. How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf by Molly Harper and Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness movie and books.  Probably a lot different than most people’s choices, but hey, I gotta be me!

Now before I go, I have to shamlessly plug my Fun and Flirty Valentine Romance, CHARM ME, which the E-book just happens to be on sale for 99¢ as one of the most romantic books I’ve written. I know it’s cheating but it is a great Valentine read!

A little about Charm Me:

Summer Dawn Rylie’s an extraordinary elemental witch whose troubled past haunts her. She’s created a calm life for herself teaching yoga and keeping people at a distance. Her life takes a one eighty degree turn when she enrolls in a women’s weapons class and meets ruggedly handsome Devlin Sawyer.

Devlin, a former Navy Seal, has sworn off women after two long-term failed relationships, but there is no denying his attraction to Summer. She intrigues him like no other woman ever has. Despite her attempts to ignore him, Summer is drawn to Devlin. His magic signature is strong, but he’s no warlock. Will Valentine’s Day magic find them a future together?

An Average Day in My Life #L&SR’s Weekly Blogging Challenge

Happy Holidays! Welcome to #L&SR’s Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge December 2, 2020, An average day in my life. That I can do! Pull up a chair, grab a drink of your choice from the cauldron. Take your choice of a Chocolate Chip, Snickerdoodle, or Peanut Butter cookie from the plate.

My writing cave!

While COVID upset a lot of things socially, for me not a lot changed.  Writing is a solitary endeavor. I do miss interactions with my writer friends for lunch and eating out, but over all, I consider myself and hubby lucky.  An average day in my life. Starts at 5:30 a.m. LOL Nope, not a morning person I’m a night owl, but hubby has to go to work.  Fix breakfast for hubby, Taco our parrot, Mystic our dog, and Sammy turtle. Pack hubby’s lunch. Eat breakfast. It’s the most important meal of the day, you know. Figure out what to fix for supper, take out any necessary ingredients.

Yes, Taco and Mystic are plotting to take over the world.

Then its a 30 second commute to my home office where I work at promos for a couple hours, dive into my fantasy world see what my characters are up to in my work in progress manuscript, direct their activities. Ha, they tell me what they are going to do and I write it down. At 10:00 a.m., Take the stairs to my basement home gym and work out for 35-60 minutes, depending on the day and the time I can spare. Or if the weather is nice, I’ll take Mystic for a nice long walk! Pesky deadlines dictate a lot of my day.

Lunch is then on the schedule. Afterward I work on my WIP until 4:00 p.m., when Taco reminds me with a loud squawk followed by “Hi Guys” or any number of phrases she knows,  it’s time to let her out and go into the sunroom.  Dinner time arrives shortly there after and either I’ve gotten it prepared or hubby picks supper up on the way home. Kinda depends what kind of day I’ve had.  Now weekends I take off. Need to give the muse a rest and recharge.  The summer time included working in my garden. So there you have it An average day in my live.  How about your day? Tell me about it in the comments.

Alas, I must return to my writing cave preparing promo on HIDDEN GYPSY MAGIC, 99¢ sales on A DEMON’S WITCH, and A WITCH’S HOLIDAY WEDDING.  Stay tuned! Chocolate Raspberry Magic release date been extended until April 2021. And I’ve turned in the sixth book in A Demon’s Witch Series to my editor at The WIld Rose Press. She likes it!  Yippee! AND I’m starting a new project  Wylder West Assignment. Keep an eye out for more information.  Now  let’s see what the other author’s list as an average day in their life. LOL  L&SR

Pssst… While you’re here, don’t forget to check out my paranormal romance/mysteries click  here.

Need help with your gift list?  Check out the award winning A WITCH’S HOLIDAY WEDDING:  Psssst…. A WITCH’S HOLIDAY WEDDING is on sale for 99c cents. Grab a copy today.  Also makes a great gift for the Paranormal Romance/Mystery reader on your list.

A bit out A WITCH’S HOLIDAY WEDDING:

Elemental witch, Pepper McKay and former Navy SEAL, Lathen Quartz built Lobster Cove Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center on enchanted McKay land. Wedding planning goes awry when the couple spends Thanksgiving with family in Colorado, a Maine snowstorm fills the center with injured wildlife, Lathen finds himself drawn into a covert military mission, and Pepper wants to cancel the wedding. Is she having second thoughts? Will the nosy McKay ghosts, Lathen’s werewolf pack, Pepper’s parents, and her best friend help or hinder the wedding and holiday plans?

A sneak peek between the pages of A WITCH’S HOLIDAY WEDDING.

After she set her glass down, Lathen brushed a couple strands of hair out of her eyes and searched her face. “Are you all right?”

“I’m tired, my wedding is in a couple weeks, I have ghosts fighting over who is going to do what. Guests that have no idea the place is haunted and… Your family and pack, my parents, Gwen… To top it all off, the head of my clan, who is a ghost, is sitting in front of me wanting to know who is coming to the wedding and whether the ghosts will be outed. How could I possibly be all right?”

“When you put it that way.” Lathen chuckled. “It sounds just a bit… I don’t know…crazy?” His right eyebrow winged up. She saw mischief sparkle in his eyes. “We could still elope,” he offered.

“No sir. Not after all the trouble—Not on me watch.” Ghost Aidan shook his head so vehemently his upper torso blurred.

Thanks for popping in. I really appreciate it. Wow, only 23 shopping days until Christmas. Yikes! Anyway, next week’s blogging challenge December 9th, A profession from a book I’d love to try! Oh this will be fun!! Until then have fun, stay safe, and never let the world get you down!

Interview Kimberly Baer Author of The Haunted Purse

Give a warm welcome to Kimberly Baer author of The Haunted Purse. Pull up a chair, grab a drink of your choice from the cooler, a Chocolate Chip or Peanut Butter cookie from the plate, and let’s find out a little about Kimberly and The Haunted Purse!

Tena, thank you so much for hosting me on your blog! My YA paranormal novel The Haunted Purse is my first officially published novel, and I’m so grateful for this opportunity to showcase it, as well as to tell your readers a little bit about myself.

My pleasure Kimberly. Lets start out with what makes you laugh out loud?

Inadvertent wordplay. I think it’s hilarious when people use the wrong word. Take the following message, which a young woman posted on social media: “My pillow smells like my boyfriend’s colon.” She was trying to say cologne—she just didn’t know how to spell it! Misheard song lyrics totally crack me up. People hear the craziest things! Like, instead of “I believe in miracles,” they hear “I remove umbilicals.” Instead of “I like big butts and I cannot lie,” they hear “I like big butts in a can of limes.” I have to confess, I’m as guilty as anybody. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve sung along to a song on the radio, only to have a friend tell me, “That’s not what they’re saying.”

Tell us something about yourself and allow us to get to know you.

I was widowed when my children were 6, 8, and 12. We lived out in the sticks, halfway up the side of a mountain, and that first winter on our own we were snowbound for three days without electricity. After that, I decided we’d had enough of rustic living, and we moved to a nice, flat suburban neighborhood. My focus over the next decade-plus was on raising the kids and putting myself through college. I didn’t date, because it didn’t seem fair to make the kids share their mom with somebody new. Our journey wasn’t easy, but we made it. The kids grew up and, miraculously, turned out okay. I got my college degree. And I now have a wonderful fiancé.

What do you want your readers to take away from your books?

I write stories for teens and tweens, and my intent is not just to entertain but also to inspire and uplift. Let’s face it: life can be hard—and my stories reflect that. My characters suffer through all kinds of hardships, but in the end they prevail. They come through their struggles stronger and wiser. I hope my young readers are able to draw strength from that message, to internalize it. I want them to believe that no matter what life throws at them, they’ll get through it.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?

The power to heal any health problem. I can’t imagine anything that would have a greater benefit for humankind. Of course, there’d be some pretty serious ramifications to that scenario. People would be living a lot longer, so we’d be facing things like overcrowding and resource shortages. Elon Musk would have to send a lot more people to Mars. And I’d probably be so busy healing people, I’d have to give up writing!

What’s your approach to writing? Are you a plotter or follow your characters flow (Pantser)?

I’d say I’m a hybrid. I like to have the whole story roughly plotted out in my head before I put pen to paper (okay, fingers to keyboard), and I typically write a synopsis to encapsulate it. As I begin to write the story, I break the synopsis into individual scenes and fill in the details as I go. But each scene description is only a very loose guide, because the characters often seize control and take the scene in a whole different direction. And that’s usually a good thing.

*************

What a unique idea a haunted purse.  I love it! Tell us a little about The Haunted Purse:

That old denim purse Libby Dawson bought at the thrift store isn’t your run-of-the-mill teenage tote. It’s a bag of secrets, imbued with supernatural powers. Strange items keep turning up inside, clues to a decades-old mystery only Libby can solve.

Filled with apprehension and yet intrigued by the mounting pile of evidence, Libby digs for the truth. And eventually finds it. But the story of the purse is darker than she imagined—and its next horrific chapter is going to be all about her.

A sneak peek between the pages of The Haunted Purse:

“Do you think we should tell my mom about the purse?” asked Toni.

“No,” I said. I wasn’t ready to trust an adult. Not even Toni’s mom, nice as she was. “Your mom is like you,” I added. “Practical. It would take a long time to convince her there’s something supernatural going on.”

We went back to watching the purse. There was a moment when I thought I saw it twitch, but that might have been my imagination.

“You could always get rid of it,” Toni said. “You know, donate it back to the thrift store.”

I considered that. “I could. But I don’t want to—not yet, anyway. This purse is the coolest thing I’ve ever owned. I want to find out more about it. I want to see what it does next.”

She moved her eyes from the purse long enough to glance at me. “Aren’t you afraid it’ll crawl into your bed some night and strangle you with its straps?”

“No. I think it’s trying to get my attention. It’s trying to tell me something.”

“Like what?”

I didn’t have a clue.

About the Author:

Kimberly Baer is an author and professional editor who was born and raised in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, a town marginally famous for having endured three major floods. She even lived there during one of them. She currently resides in Virginia, where she enjoys power-walking on days when it’s not too hot, too cold, too rainy, too snowy, or too windy. If forced to stay inside, she’s likely to end up binge-watching one of her favorite TV shows: Gilmore Girls, Breaking Bad, Friends, or The Office.

Kim has had her nose in a book practically since birth, and she decided early on that she wanted to be on the giving end of the reading experience as well as the receiving end. Her first story, written at age six, was about a baby chick that hatched out of a little girl’s Easter egg after somehow surviving the hard-boiling process. Her recent focus has been on writing middle-grade and young adult fiction.
