L&SR’s Wed Blog Challenge – What I Wanted To Do When I Grew Up vs. What I Do
Welcome to #L&SR’s Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge August 12, 2020, What I wanted to do when I grew up vs. what I do! Well now that’s interesting. I am doing exactly what I always wanted to do, but it was a long and winding road to get here. Please have a seat, grab an iced tea or lemonade out of the cooler. Be sure and try a chocolate chip or peanut butter cookie.
For the last five years I’ve been a full time author with twelve books published since 2015, when I decided to try living my dream. The road to get here was rocky to say the least. I spent eight years as a savings and loan employee starting at telling and working my way up to assistance branch manager. But the challenge was never there. I did enjoy the customer contact.
So I returned to school to get a paralegal degree. Meanwhile for two years I worked nights as a radio DJ at a top local rock station. Now that was fun, met a lot of my favorite bands and entertainers.
Spent the next eleven years working as a paralegal for a criminal law firm. In the beginning it was challenging and exciting but as the crimes got more violent and frequent, I bailed. Seeing our clients out on bond during my off time and when I was with my elderly mother cemented my decision to move on.The encounters were scary to say the least.
The next fourteen years were spent as an Office and IT manager for an electric contracting firm. While I did enjoy the job, management and ownership changes affected the Mission of the company. Employees became just a means to get the job done, not appreciated as previously. Eventually I was downsized. I decided then and there, no more working for someone else. My husband and I talked it over and he fully supported me giving my dream of becoming a published author a shot and we never looked back!
So there you have it what I wanted to do when I grew up vs. what I do. How about you? What did you want to do when you grew up vs. what you’re doing?
Alas, I must return to my writing cave where deadlines loom preparing promo on my upcoming release HIDDEN GYPSY MAGIC I will be releasing the cover and release date soon. Stay tuned! #L&SR’s Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge – My Favorite Tropes
Welcome to #L&SR’s Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge August 5, 2020 – My favorite tropes of Paranormal Romance and Cozy Mystery genre! WOW, so many choices. Please have a seat, grab an iced tea or lemonade out of the cooler. Be sure and try a chocolate chip or peanut butter cookie.
My favorite tropes in Paranormal Romance, I want more than romance. I want a mystery, what makes the Hero and Heroine click? Is an outside source bringing them together? Also want a little folklore sprinkled in. Accidental Time Travel (Forgive my blatant promo – Mystic Maples) When Mercy discovers the truth, Silvanus’ well-ordered life unravels and they’re catapulted into the past to right a wrong. Of course a happy ever after ending. I know this isn’t exactly a troup, but it’s close. LOL
In Cozy Mystery, my favorite tropes are – Search for a hidden treasure of some kind. Travel to a land of enchantment to break a curse or find a missing person. Time Travel with a purpose to solve a long time mystery. A good old fashion who done it. All must have a happy ever after ending.
Also, anything with robots, nanotech, or cyber security, I love these tropes! Did I mention I LOVE my Irobot Rumba (Bitti)? Bitti Vacuums my whole upstairs and schedule twice a week and tells me when she’s through. Gotta love tech.
So there you have it My favorite tropes of Paranormal Romance and Cozy Mystery genre. How about you? Any favorite tropes of Paranormal Romance or Cozy Mystery or maybe a different genre?
Alas, I must return to my writing cave where deadlines loom preparing promo on my upcoming release HIDDEN GYPSY MAGIC (Still waiting on cover art and release date). Chocolate Raspberry Magic is in pre-galley now release date been extended until April 2021. And working on a new WIP sixth book in A Demon’s Witch Series(very exciting and coming along very well) so let’s see what other authors chose as their favorite tropes in their genre. L&SR

Character Names in Books I Can’t Pronounce – #L&SR’s Blog Challenge
Welcome to #L&SR’s Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge July 22, 2020 – Character names in books I can’t Pronounce! Boy that took some thought. Please have a seat, grab an iced tea or lemonade out of the cooler. Be sure and try a chocolate chip or peanut butter cookie. Today, I also have something a little different after my post on today’s topic. If you have a few minutes take a look at what makes my A Witch’s Holiday Wedding different besides is on sale for 99 cnet to celebrate Christmas In July. What do parrots know about PTSD? Take a peek and you’ll find out. Animal lovers don’t miss this.
Here we go. After nearly short-circuiting my brain, I finally came up with only one, it’s The Kate Daniel’s Series by Ilona Andrews.
I love this series. But the characters are numerous and their names, well, sometimes I have to stop and figure out how to pronounce them. Does it distract from reading the series. No, not any more. It really helped in the last book she listed all her characters in the series, their duties, roles and pronounced their names. I had most of them right, by the way!
So there you have it, the character names in books I can’t pronounce. How about you? What do you character names you can’t pronounce?
Alas, I must return to my writing cave where deadlines loom with final galley on my upcoming release HIDDEN GYPSY MAGIC, and Chocolate Raspberry Magic is in pre-galley now, and on a new WIP sixth book in A Demon’s Witch Series(very exciting and coming along very well) so let’s see what other authors chose as character names in books they can’t pronounce L&SR
Pssst… While you’re here, don’t forget to check out my paranormal romance/mysteries click here.
Looking an exciting read to whisk you away from your ordinary world into a magical, fantasy adventure ? Got just the thing lets celebrate Christmas in July with A WITCH’S HOLIDAY WEDDING, second in A Witch’s Journey Series. Let me tell you a little about this book and the others in A Witch’s Journey Series you may not be aware. Another aspect to this book and A WItch’s Journey is the disabled vets that Lathen mentors and assists in finding jobs to better their lives. Once a wounded vet himself, alienated and angry, Lathen met Pepper and learned the secrets the animals hold. They don’t judge. They listen. They are able see right into your soul and comfort. They know what you need, if you only listen. At least that’s the way I feel. Wildlife rescue and rehab is near and dear to my heart. Heck rescue of any animal is high on my list. Recently, I read a fantastic article that confirmed my thoughts and believes in the relationship between human and parrots, another of my passions. When you have a few minutes, take a peek at this sobering article from the New York Times Magazine. I think you’ll find it quite informative. Especially if you are an animal lover. https://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/31/magazine/what-does-a-parrot-know-about-ptsd.html
A little about A Witch’s Holiday Wedding:
Elemental witch, Pepper McKay and former Navy SEAL, Lathen Quartz built Lobster Cove Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center on enchanted McKay land. Wedding planning goes awry when the couple spends Thanksgiving with family in Colorado, a Maine snowstorm fills the center with injured wildlife, Lathen finds himself drawn into a covert military mission, and Pepper wants to cancel the wedding. Is she having second thoughts? Will the nosy McKay ghosts, Lathen’s werewolf pack, Pepper’s parents, and her best friend help or hinder the wedding and holiday plans?
Thanks for popping in. I really appreciate it. Next week, July 29, can you believe it? Anyway topic is stuff on my bucket list. What fun!
