#L&SR’s #Wednesday’s Blog Challenge 4-1-20. Favorite Books Series & Why

Welcome to #L&SR’s #Wednesday’s Blog Challenge 4-1-20. Favorite Books Series and Why. I love series and that’s no April Fools’ joke. Getting to know the characters and their adventures, then enjoying an on going story with new characters is the best. Like welcoming home old friends. Please have a seat, grab a hot chocolate and chocolate chip cookie. Lets get started.,

First of all, I gave this quite a bit of thought. I enjoy several series for different reasons.  All paranormal because that’s the way I roll. So here’s my list in no particular order.  I’ll start with Molly Harper’s werewolf series. How to Flirt a Naked Werewolf, How to Run with a Naked Werewolf and The Art of Seducing a Naked Werewolf. I know you’ve heard me talk about them before, but they are feel good reads with lots of giggles you can’t beat in times like these.

Next would bet IIona Andrews – Kate Daniels Series. There are ten books in this series. I’ve listened to each one several times, yep, I love the audio books. Her characters (there are a lot of them) are bigger than life and complex. Their adventures are gut wrenching but some times laugh out loud too. An entertaining series to say the least.

Let’s talk about Deborah Harkness’  All Souls Trilogy.  A Discovery of Witches, Shadow of Night and Tree of Life. These books follow a witch and vampire through their courtship, timetravel to the 1590’s and back to present day. I was surprised that I enjoyed the historical aspect of Shadow of Night. Not really a historical buff but her vivid descriptions of the setting and the characters actions and reactions kept you turning pages and engaged. Again I’ve read this series several times.

Yep you guessed it, no series listing of mine would be complete without Nora Roberts. She has numerous series I’ve enjoyed but none more than the Cousins O’Dwyer Trilogy.  Dark Witch, Shadow Spell and Blood Magick. This is a paranormal series about witches and the trouble they get into. In true Robert’s fashion it’s lively, fun, dangerous and romantic. Not to mention lots of good old fashion magic, plus horses and falconry.  What more could you want.

How about the Harry Potter Series. I have these in hard back book, audio book and the movies. This series is another of my feel good series when things get rough. I along with my hubby been known to binge watch them all.

Now we go back a few years to The Dragon Riders of Pern Series by Anne McCaffery. On a beautiful world called Pern, an ancient way of life is about to come under attack. Can the Dragon Riders of Pern save their world and way of life? This is a fantastic Science Fiction Series I’ve enjoyed over and over.

While I could go on and on with series from Nora Roberts, J.D. Robb (finally started from the beginning and found I do enjoy the series) and many others.

I just can’t name favorite series with out mentioning my own award winning A DEMON’S WITCH SERIES.  Forgive me! This spicy romance series has it all intrigue, humor, thrills, danger and a splash of magic to keep you on the edge of your seat. So why not leave your ordinary world behind… be swept away into a magical romantic fantasy with a touch of mystery and suspense. Warning: You may never want to leave. LOL

So there you have it, Favorite Books Series and Why! I’d love to hear from you. What’s your favorite series? List them in the comments below.

Alas, I must return to my writing cave where deadlines loom on a new WIP (very exciting and coming along very well) so let’s see what other authors list as their Favorite Books Series. L&SR

#L&SR’s #Wednesday’s Blog Challenge 2-12-20 Books I Reread or Want to Reread

Welcome to #L&SR’s #Wednesday’s Blog Challenge 2-12-20 Books I Reread or Want to Reread.  Wow, there are quite a few, but I’ll narrow them down. Sit down, grab a hot chocolate and heart shaped red-frosted sugar cookie. Lets get started.,

Okay here is a list of Books I Reread or Want to Reread in no particular order. I know you’ll recognize the titles and authors from prior blogs, but they are my favorites. I re-listen to them since they are all on audiobook.

TroubleMaker by Linda Howard – The part-time police chief of a small West Virginian mountain town, Isabeau “Bo” Maran finally has her life figured out. She’s got friends, a dog, and a little money in the bank. Then Morgan Yancy shows up on her doorstep. Bo doesn’t need a mysterious man in her life—especially a troublemaker as enticing and secretive as Morgan.

The Witness by Nora Roberts –The mystery of Abigail Lowery and her sharp mind, secretive nature and unromantic viewpoint intrigues local police chief Brooks Gleason, on both a personal and professional level. And while he suspects that Abigail needs protection from something, Gleason is accustomed to two-bit troublemakers, not the powerful and dangerous men who are about to have him in their sights.

How to Flirt With A Naked Werewolf,   by Molly Harper.  If a wolf cries wolf, it makes sense to listen, yet Mo is convinced that Cooper is not the culprit. Except if he’s not responsible, then who is? And when a werewolf falls head over haunches in love with you, what are you supposed to do anyway? The rules of dating just got a whole lot more complicated. . . .

The Art of Seducing a Naked Werewolf by Molly Harper – Generations of werewolves have been secretly residing in a secluded valley a stone’s throw from Grundy, Alaska. So when a snooping Outsider comes to Grundy to investigate rumors of lycanthropic shenanigans in the area, the valley’s pack alpha, Maggie Graham, resolves to chase him away, even if doing so takes a quick bite on the butt. What a pity that researcher Nick Thatcher turns out to be so drool-worthy, and that his kisses make Maggie want to sit up and beg.

How to Run With A Naked Werewolf  by Molly Harper- On the run from an abusive relationship, she runs right into the arms of a protective werewolf. Life will never be the same.

The Kate Daniels Series by Ilona Andrews (A ten book series).Mercenary Kate Daniels must risk all to protect everything she holds dear in this epic, can’t-miss entry in the thrilling #1 New York Times bestselling urban fantasy series.

I could go on and on, but the above will give you an idea of my preferences for books I reread. I like books with adventure, mystery and happily ever after.

Alas, I must return to my writing cave where deadlines loom, so let’s see what other authors list of Books to reread. L&SR

What are the books your reread or relisten to? Please list them in the comments.

Books I Keep Meaning to Read #L&SR #WednesdayBlogChallenge 9-11-19

Books I Keep Meaning to Read (but haven’t) #L&SR #WednesdayBlogChallenge 9-11-19

Welcome to #L&SR’s #Wednesday’s Blog Challenge, Books I Keep Meaning to Read (but haven’t).  Well the list is so long that I won’t burden you with them all. Sticking to only four, one being a series of seventeen books. Wow now that is biting off more than I can chew…I mean read.

Whuthering Heights – As the housekeeper sits and knits she spins the tale of the tempestuous love story of Cathy and Heathcliff, slowly but surely you are pulled in to all the machinations that the Lintons and Earnshaws and the orphan Heathcliff engage in across the cold, damp, windswept moors of the Yorkshire estate.

Okay now I remember why I haven’t gotten around to read it.  One has to wonder state of mind Emily Bronte was in when she wrote the turbulent tale in 1847.

The Black Dagger Brotherhood Series by J.R. Ward. It’s my understanding there are currently 17 books in the series. That is a daunting task for a writer, with reviews due and deadlines looming. But….

Some of my books have been compared to hers several times by readers and reviewers. Are they crazy?  So it’s time to check out just how tempting the night can be in these Black Dagger Brotherhood books. And whether there is any truth to the comparisons. One can only hope.

I have purchased the books so that is a step in the right direction, don’t you think?

Yes of course, my old standby, Molly Harper has a new book out, Silkies Are a Girl’s Best Friend, newest book from the Mystic Bayou Series. It’s on audiobook, so I stand a better than average chance of getting this one read or to be exactly correct, listened to in the near future. Is that cheating? Depending on the looming deadlines. LOL

Vendetta in Death, – J.D. Robb (Nora Roberts)  I’ve tried a couple of her J.D. Robb novels and didn’t really enjoy them. Friends have said I just picked less than stellar ones. So I’ve been meaning to give the series a try again. We’ll see.

There you have it Books I Keep Meaning to Read (but haven’t). Any books you’ve been meaning to read but haven’t? I’d love to hear them. Please list them in the comments. Alas, I need to get back to my writing cave and the WIP, so let’s see what the other authors in this blog challenge claim as their Books I Had to Read in School and Liked: L&SR

What Books I Read When I’m Not Feeling Well. #L&SR #WednesdayBlogChallenge 8-21-19

Welcome to L&SR’s #Wednesday’s Blog Challenge, What Books I Read When I’m Not Feeling Well.

What I Read When I’m Not Feeling Well. #L&SR #WednesdayBlogChallenge 8-21-19

I must say the question, Books I Read When I’m Not Feeling Well has never entered my mind.  First of all I take not feeling well to be either physically or mentally. We all have down days so I’m counting that situation that too.

Having racked my brain to figure out just what was meant by the topic and finally coming to the decision above, here is what I read when I’m feeling blue or have a cold or the flu.

First book- it would have to be Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. It’s my go to book or movie because good triumphs over evil in a really entertaining way.  Love to hate the Dursleys. Don’t you?

Next it would be Nancy Atherton’s Aunt Dimity Series. I love those books and re-read them or listen to the audio books every chance I get.  They transport you into a wonderful cozy mystery that leaves you with that warm fuzzy good feeling. In fact I had a chance to talk with Nancy at a recent signing in Covered Treasures Book Store in Monument, CO, about all her books. What a great time we had!

Then my old stand by the werewolf series by Molly Harper. I know I’ve mentioned her here before, but for me she is the queen of snark and laugh out loud situations. You can tell by her titles, The Art of Seducing a Naked Werewolf,  How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf, and How to Run with a Hake Werewolf.  Her vampire series and Half Moon Hollow series touts the same snark, and snark makes me feel better regardless the reason I’m under the weather.

I could go on and on, but there you have it What I Read When I’m Not Feeling Well. Do you have a book you read when you are under the weather? I’d love to hear them. Please list them in the comments. Alas, I need to get back to my writing cave and the WIP, so let’s see what the other authors in this blog challenge claim as their Favorite food and what recipes they have shared: L&SR
