I have to admit that this year has been fantastic.  We finally got to take the RV adventure that my husband and I have been planning for years. (Keep an eye on my facebook page for details of our three-month RV adventure). But when I sit down and think about it, I have many things to be thankful for. My husband finally retired allowing us to travel, when and as long as we want. The catastrophic softball-size hail storms missed us this year. Yippee!

My wonderful readers are fantastic and I am so thankful for them. I sincerely hope my tales of paranormal creatures help them forget their troubles and relax by slipping into worlds of magic fantasy & romance if only for a few hours.

I still wake up and pinch myself every morning, thankful to be living my dream of being published.  A dream made possible by my supportive, extraordinary husband of many moons and The Wild Rose Press my amazing publisher. My editor, Diane, well, let’s just say…SHE ROCKS! I’m so thankful for her patience and understanding. (Discovering new and creative way to screw up seems to be my lot in life.) Yep, my face turns bright red every time I think about it. Oh, yeah, and I’m thankful for the helpful, supportive authors of The Wild Rose Press!  They’re always willing to lend a hand.

When my characters run amuck, the story plot flows in ten different directions and none of them what I had in mind AND a deadline looms.  (Yeah, I know you plotters never have that happen, but us pansters… well just saying.) Three little words, “You’ve got this” are music to my ears from my family and friends. I am eternally thankful for their encouragement and support.

I am thankful for the unconditional love of my chow dog, Mystic; spoiled parrot, Taco; and box turtle, Sammie. No matter how bad I feel or goof up, in their eyes, I’m darn near perfect. And I’m certainly not going to tell them any different!

Finally, a day never passes without my thanks to the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces whose dedication keeps our great nation free. (I know you’ve heard me say this before, but I can’t help it. Comes from living in a military town all my life & marrying a soldier.)  We are one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. You may not agree with me, but that’s what is great about this nation.  You don’t have to.  I’m entitled to my own opinion, as are you. I can write books on any topic I choose without fear of a midnight knock on my door or being carted away. Unless of course my characters come to life, then we’re all in trouble. <Giggle>

While I have a lot more to be thankful for, roof over my head, food in my house, etc., I’ve listed the biggies. I wish you all love, laughter and Happy Thanksgiving!

Thankful Author

I have to say this year has been difficult from beginning to end. But when I sit down and think about it, I have many things to be thankful for. Still have lingering effect from COVID, we survived but left me with a serious hip problem. October 5, 2022, had a total hip replacement, which fixed the problem and I look forward to hiking and biking this summer. So I’m thankful!

My wonderful readers are fantastic and I am so thankful for them. I sincerely hope my tales of paranormal creatures sweep them away from their ordinary world into a magical, romantic fantasy adventure or mystery if only for a few hours.  We all need fantasy these days. Don’t you agree?

After two looong years, I finally was able to attend a book signing at the Colorado Country Christmas Craft Fair. What fun. While space was limited, met lots of readers, sold and signed lots of books.  Yippee!! What a blast! Hope to be able to do more in 2023.  Fingers crossed

Eight years and seventeen books later, I still wake up and pinch myself every morning, thankful to be living my dream of being published. A dream made possible by my supportive, extraordinary husband of many moons and The Wild Rose Press my amazing publisher. My editor, Lill, well, let’s just say…SHE ROCKS! I’m so thankful for her patience and understanding. (Discovering new and creative ways to screw up seems to be my specialty.) Yep, my face turns bright red every time I think about it. Oh, yeah, and I’m thankful for the helpful, supportive authors of The Wild Rose Press authors!  They’re always willing to lend a hand.

When my characters run amuck, the story plot flows in ten different directions and none of them what I had in mind AND a deadline looms.  (Yeah, I know you plotters never have that happen, but us pansters… well just saying.) While I have a lot more to be thankful for such as a roof over my head — About the roof over my head, I’m still waiting for a self-cleaning house. LOL I am so enjoying my kitchen remodel we muddled through last January. New granite counter tops, chef’s sink, flooring, and cupboards.

Love it!!  I’m thankful to have enough to eat and clothes on my back. Having listed the biggies, I wish you all love, laughter and Happy Thanksgiving!

After the big dinner is done and you sit down to relax, I have a suggestion. MERINGUE SNOWFLAKE MAGIC! A heart warming holiday tale, with twist and turns you won’t see coming.

What’s MERINGUE SNOWFLAKE MAGIC about you ask?

After being in the wrong place at the wrong time, Wynter Dahl finds herself with a new name and new home. Whisked into the Witness Protection program she finds herself in the Podunk town of Raven’s Hollow, Colorado. She has more than one secret to keep and is not sure who she can trust, though the deputy sheriff is hard to resist.

Braydon “Blaze” Nightwing, owns Dragon Fire Pizza and takes his job as deputy sheriff seriously. He means to protect his town and its residents, including the mysterious newcomer. He rescues her after a tumble and finds himself in over his head. He senses she’s more than she seems but so is he.

When her cover is blown and her life is in danger it will take the whole town to save her and their annual holiday festival and cookie contest. What is Christmas without a little magic?

Halloween Spirit Hunt – Seventy-Two Days

Seventy-two days until Halloween!  Toil and Trouble are looking for the Halloween Spirit. Did you notice my Halloween count down calendar to the right??  I’ve something a bit different for you this year count down to Halloween with a search for the Halloween Spirit.

No, it’s never to early for All Hallows Eve!  Halloween is my favorite time of year. Cooler weather, sight and sound of colorful leaves falling or crunching under foot. The smell of fall in the air, pumpkins and pumpkin flavored everything!! Love it! Also Halloween is the only day you can be anyone or anything  you want and no one will say a word.  Don’t forget it’s the day the veil between the living and the dead is the thinnest!

Yes, I know it’s 20th of August, which means,  I can continue my annual countdown until Halloween.  To help me this year are skeletons,  Toil (Unicorn) and Trouble (dragon) they are in search of the Halloween Spirit. This week they encountered a big fluffily creature in their search of the backyard.  What do you suppose they found? Unfortunately, it wasn’t the Halloween Spirit. Darn it! So the search continues. Upon further inspection it was a tiny lizard, much to fast to photograph. LOL

HalloweenTheir friend, Dave (Skeleton), from Texas (thank you Jessica) has an online shopping addition. He cleared the boxes but no Halloween spirit in any box.  He still has trouble with what day it is as well. seventy-two days Dave!

Each week, on Friday, there will be new pictures of where Toil and Trouble are searching and how Dave is helping.  In the month of October  beside their search for the Halloween Spirit, Toil, Trouble and Dave will help me list the most haunted cities in America. A visit to haunted places in Colorado, my own stomping ground, Spooktacular tips to keep your pet safe this Halloween season. Do you suffer from Samhainopobia? I’ll tell you later. These are  just to name a few.  Please check back!

Only seventy-two days until Halloween! Bwwwaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

Plus a Halloween themed book from my collection will be featured each week:  You do know I write paranormal romance/mystery. Right? This week, let me tell you a little about Mystic Maples, part of the Deerbourne Inn Series.  So hurry grab your copy and join the #fantasy #adventure! You won’t believe what happens at the Halloween Party!  When Mercy discovers the truth, Silvanus’ well-ordered life unravels and they’re catapulted into the past to right a wrong.

HalloweenA little about Mystic Maples:

Earth/Fire witch Mercy Rose’s insatiable curiosity always gets her in trouble. After a break-in at her Colorado flower shop, and a court battle that comes to a screeching halt in her favor, she arrives at Deerbourne Inn for a much-needed getaway. Looking for peace and quiet, she finds just the opposite in a startling handsome but mysterious man and his dog.

Silvanus Forrest’s gypsy/fae heritage is a double-edged sword. The land he inherited from his parents is rumored to be enchanted. But when Mercy discovers the truth, his well-ordered life unravels, and they’re catapulted into the past to right a wrong. Along the way their lives intertwine, and they discover the true meaning of family and love. Will they change the past in time to save their future?

A sneak peek between the pages of Mystic Maples!

Casting a holding spell as she opened the box, Mercy tied the line to each of the twenty bats and attached them to the arches of the gazebo. After she released the spell the bats bounced to-and fro their wings emitting a bright green glow. The decorations lit up the gazebo as the last rays of sunlight disappeared painting the sky in reds, oranges and eventually fading to pinks and purples. She placed candles inside the pumpkins scattered around the town square. Brushing her hands together, she leaned back to admire her work and grinned. “They’re all finished.”  Surveying the town square and assured that all the vendors were busy setting up their booths, she waved her hand and flames on each candle danced from inside the pumpkins.

Sil joined her at the gazebo slipping an arm around her waist and whispered, “Sneaky. I wouldn’t do that too often.”  He pointed not more than ten feet from the building. “Mystic Maple’s booth is all set up complete with steaming hot chocolate and my specialty Maple Twists. I hope we made enough twists to last the night.”

“If not, I’m prepared.” She waved her hand with flourish and snatched at something inside her bag.

“No magic remember,” he admonished.

“Wouldn’t dream of it.” She waved a sign with bright orange letters “SOLD OUT” and snickered planning to snatch a couple of the baked cinnamon-sugar and maple desserts for herself.

He gave her a thumbs up and turned as his parents reported back. “Checked all the pumpkins. They’re all staying lit. We’re going to—”

Raga stood between her and Sil, her hackles raised, and a low growl vibrating in her throat. Sil glanced around then reached down to soothe the dog. But her growling continued.

As the townspeople arrived for the fun, dark clouds spread across the sky that minutes ago he’d sworn had been clear. A bolt of lightning flashed and crashed into an old oak sending splinters of wood and bark in all directions. The town square faded into the background as time froze for the mortals.  Garrett appeared where the tree had stood just seconds ago.

“You always did like to make an entrance.” Sil took in a deep breath, stepped in front of Mercy, straightened his shoulders, and clinched his fists at his sides. “To what do we owe the pleasure?”

See you back here next Friday! You won’t believe where Toil and Trouble wound up. And Dave got trashed! Until then enjoy the warm weather, fall is coming bringing with it Halloween Spirit! Yippee!! Now all we have to do is find it!
