A sneak peek between the pages of Viking’s Crusade.
Soren led her into a cozy nook beneath a pine with a moss covered trunk. The intimate area had a cave of sorts carved into a monstrous rock on one side. Pine branches hung to the ground on the other. Like all places in the Realm, soft verdant grass grew where it shouldn’t. Not that she was complaining as she sat and looked up.

“I used to enjoy sitting beneath the trees at my home in Lake Placid,” she mentioned, steering the conversation away from intimacy. “Then I went off to college and never got around to sitting under one again.”

He lit a fire and sat beside her. “It is peaceful, yes?”

“It really is,” she murmured. “Funny, maybe a small part of me was trying to bring that sense of peace to the rest of the world.”

“By the sounds of it, you did.”

“Here and there.” Not when it mattered most, though.

“I would like to it see someday,” he said softly. “Your life…what you accomplished.”

“You mean, look through my mind’s eye.” She tensed at the thought. It was one thing catching her thoughts, but to let him all the way in would mean him seeing first-hand the atrocities she had caused. “Maybe eventually.”

“When you are ready,” he agreed. “Though it might happen against your will as it has for some of our kin.”

“I know.” She met his eyes. “I guess I just want to put it off for as long as possible.” She shook her head, realizing it was for more reasons than one. “Not just for me but for you.”

“You are afraid of the way I will look at you. That it will damage the way my dragon looks at yours, the connection they are so desperate for.” He shook his head. “But it will not, Ava. It cannot.”

“You don’t know that.”

“I do, though. As I said before, my dragon can only lend yours comfort and protect it,” he said softly. “Letting me and my dragon in will not push us away but pull us closer. It will allow us to soak up some of your pain…to help you find self-forgiveness.”

“How can you know that when you’ve never had a mate?”

“Because I have had a mate.” He brushed the back of his knuckles along her jaw. “You.” He searched her eyes. “Surely, you feel the growing connection. The intense bond.”

“You know I do,” she whispered because she couldn’t quite find her voice. “Only our growing connection isn’t giving me a sense of confidence. Instead, I feel like I’m drawing closer to unbearable pain.” While she meant to keep it to herself, her inner dragon prompted her tongue along. “I keep getting this nagging feeling I’m going to lose you now that I’ve found you.”

“You cannot let that stand in your way,” he said gently. “Instead, you have to trust it, allow the connection. In that, you will find peace.”

“How do you know?”

“Because I already feel it.” His fingers trailed down the side of her neck, causing a fresh spike of heat. “While yes, there is great risk, there is also certainty that this is eternal. That the connection we made on Múspellsheimr is ours for all time.” He tilted her chin until their eyes were aligned. “Our dragons will always find their way back to each other, Ava. So even if you lose me in this life, there will be another. I will return to you.”

He certainly had a way with words, didn’t he? But they were true words said from his heart. She could see it in his eyes. Sense it in his soul. More than that, she could feel it in his tender touch.

“What are you doing here?” Davyn growled into her mind.

She blinked at him, only now realizing they must be dreaming together. Wonderful. Not.

“I don’t know.” She frowned. “Didn’t you bring me along?”

“Why would I do that?” He shook his head. “You tend to bring havoc with you wherever you go.”

“Thanks,” she said dryly.

“It’s true.”

“Says you.” She shrugged and spoke without thinking. “I like to think I bring excitement.”

Had that sounded like flirting?

“I do not want excitement with you, Cupid,” he grumbled aloud.

“Any more than I want excitement with you,” she assured as they stood alone in a darkened area covered by pines. “And you definitely dragged me along somehow because I sure as heck didn’t try to follow you.” She shook her head. “The last thing I remember was feeling drowsy then I was here so I must’ve dosed off.”

“You should not have been able to follow me to this place,” he grunted in dismay, a fierce scowl on his face. “It is too telling.”

She met his eyes, catching his drift. “Nope lose that thought.” She shook her head. “Just because I got dragged along in a dream doesn’t mean we’re fated mates. It’s got to be the magic of this place up to no good.”

“My magic,” he reminded. “And I agree it is up to no good.”

Though she tried to pull her gaze from his, she was suddenly all too aware of his gorgeous eyes despite the darkness. Eyes that seemed to draw her in more than usual in this strange dreamlike state.

“Oh shoot,” she whispered, drifting closer even as she tried to stop, as she tried to gain control. “I don’t think I like this dreaming thing.”

“It is hard to control a dream,” he said softly, his voice less gruff now.

“We’re controlling this dream though,” she denied even as she drifted closer.

“Yes,” he assured, drifting closer as well. “Because we are here to work.”

“To lure the enemies,” she murmured, her eyes falling to his lips.

“That is right,” he murmured, his eyes falling to her lips.

“Right,” she whispered. “This is right.”

“Yes,” he whispered. “It is.”

Then she drifted right into his arms, tilted her head back and closed her eyes, more than ready to be kissed. More than ready to feel once again what those sensuous lips of his could do.

Then air blew by her face, and her eyes flew open.

An arrow had whizzed by their faces moments before their lips touched.

They were under attack.

Interview Mary Morgan Author of Trial of a Warrior

Happy holidays to all! Give a big welcome to Mary Morgan, author of Trial of a Warrior, Legends of the Fenian Warriors, Books 3.

Have a seat and grab an insulated mug. I’ve got hot chocolate, hot cider and coffee. Choose your pot, they’re labeled. Pick your choice of a Snicker-doodle, Chocolate Chip or Peanut butter cookie from the plate. Yep, I baked them myself. Lets find out a little about Mary and see what her Trial of a Warrior is all about. Thanks for joining us!

Hi Tena! Thanks so much for hosting me on my release day! Let me give you a glimpse behind the scenes for this new book…

I have never had a story developed so quickly as Trial of a Warrior. Princess Abela stunned me one cold winter morning when she stepped forth within my thoughts and Liam’s prison. Uncertainty filled me as I fought against her choice for the heroine. Yet, she refused to leave, and I yielded to her demands. After all, she is royalty.

In the end, it was a perfect match.

Tell us a little about Trial of a Warrior:

Liam and Abela took me on an amazing adventure. I allowed these characters to involve me—the writer—on their epic journey. We also learned that the greatest Fenian Warrior, Aidan Kerrigan, had his own secret. Did I know this important fact? No. The warrior chose not to reveal this particular information until I was almost finished writing the story.

And this is what happens in the life of a writer. Some elements of a story unfold immediately before we hit the first keystroke. However, there are times when you have nothing, and when you sit down to begin, the characters reveal the story to you.

“You met them in the Order of the Dragon Knights. Now, journey to the realm of the Fae and witness their legends!”

 A warrior sentenced to die.

On trial for breaking a supreme Fae law, Fenian Warrior, Liam MacGregor has no regrets. He is prepared to accept his sentence—even if it means his death. However, freedom comes in an unexpected manner, and brings with it certain dangers as he travels through the Veil of Ages.

A princess honor-bound to remain hidden.

Princess Abela might be a priestess and the daughter of royalty, but that doesn’t prevent her from doing the unimaginable. She sacrifices duty and honor to set free the man who captured her heart so many years ago. No matter the severity of his crimes, she cannot let Liam die.

A rescue that will bring about a war and divide a kingdom!

In their quest to secure a treaty to forestall Liam’s death sentence, they must fight their desires for one another, as well as the Fenian Warriors sent to capture them.

How about a sneak peek between the pages of Trial of a Warrior?

A tremor of longing to be kissed filled Abela. She should flee this instant, but her feet refused to listen to her mind.

Liam reached out and tucked a stray curl behind her ear. His finger trailed down the side of her neck, and she shuddered. “You have not answered me.”

“Yes,” she replied rapidly.

The smile in his eyes contained a sensuous flame, and she was drawn to him. A soft breeze billowed around them. She ached to press her mouth against his. Just one kiss.

As if reading her thoughts, Liam cupped her chin and stroked his thumb over her bottom lip. “Your mouth begs to be kissed, princess.”

She swallowed and did the unthinkable. “Then kiss me, Liam MacGregor.”

His groan echoed around them as he took possession of her mouth. The kiss sent the pit of her stomach into a wild swirl of delicious sensations. Abela’s body yearned to touch him, so she wrapped her arms around his neck. The contact of his skin against her chest ignited a burning desire for more.

Liam grasped her firmly around the waist with one arm and deepened the kiss. When his silken tongue sought entry, she opened fully to the seduction, tasting wine, apples, and his own scent. His moan resonated deep within her, and she found her body responding to a rhythm as old as the land they lived upon.

Never did Abela imagine the power behind a kiss—seductive, enchanting, shattering, and she craved more.

Interview D.K. Deters Author of Christmas Once Again

Happy holidays to all! Give a big welcome to D.K. Deters, author of Christmas Once Again. Lets find out a little about D.K. and see what Christmas Once Again is all about. Thanks for joining us!

Hi Tena. Thanks for having me.

What inspired this particular story?

I was watching a news broadcast about ordinary people pitching together to save a stranger’s life. It got me to thinking about how one selfless act could be life-changing. Since I always get sentimental around the holidays, a Christmas romance felt right.

What makes you laugh out loud?

By far, those hilarious everyday events that we couldn’t have orchestrated even if we tried.  Check out my favorite holiday memory below.

What is your favorite Christmas tradition?

It’s hard to pick just one, but we love it when our children and their families can make it home for Christmas.

Why did you choose the cover concept you did?

The cover artist asked me to pick two significant elements from the story. I chose a missing painting, which may or may not have special powers and a cabin in the Colorado Rocky Mountains.

Favorite holiday memory?

When my son was in kindergarten, he played Santa in a grade school holiday program. Classmates took on the roles of the reindeer, all decked out with cute little pipe cleaner antlers and connected with holiday garland.

At the back of the auditorium, they waited for their cue. My son held on to the reins (the garland) while standing inside Santa’s sleigh (a big box with a shoulder harness.) The eight tiny reindeer took off at a run with their sites on the stage. As Santa hustled along at top speed, his beard and pointy hat bouncing, the sleigh slid forward and tilted up as if could fly. Now Santa couldn’t see ahead, and he had to rely on his reindeer to get him past the audience. In a flurry, the children arrived center stage to laughter and applause.

I still chuckle when I think about it. (And thank goodness, no one was injured.)

Tell us a little about Christmas Once Again.

She’s dead broke. And eviction looms. On Christmas Eve antique consultant Madison Knight takes a phone call from local rancher Zach Murdock. Through a mix-up at an estate sale, Madison’s company purchased his grandmother’s beloved painting. He offers double the money for its return.

Madison risks her job to track down the artwork, but success falls short when she’s stuck in a blizzard. Stranded, she seeks help from a frontier family. Are they living off the grid, or did she somehow travel through time?

Zach’s the only person who knows her plan. He also knows a secret about his gran’s painting. It’s up to him to rescue Madison, but maybe he’s not cut out to be a hero.

How about a sneak peek between the pages of Christmas Once Again?

“My grandmother had an estate sale last week, and she didn’t want it sold, unfortu—”

“Oh?” She should’ve kept quiet. Run-ins with greedy family members happened in the antique business, and a judging attitude didn’t increase revenues.

“It wasn’t on purpose,” he said. “The day was chaotic, and someone had shuffled around the artwork. We didn’t realize it was missing until a couple of days ago, and it took this long to sort out the mix-up and discover your shop bought it.”

She felt guilty for jumping to the wrong conclusion. “I see how that could happen. It’s obvious the piece is treasured by your grandmother. If it becomes necessary, we have the resources to find a similar style. Is there a specific artist or significance?”

Held hostage by the slow computer response and trying not to rush him, she picked up one of the hand weights, intending to fit in a few curls.

“Keep in mind Gran’s ninety-two, and she thinks…”

“Uh-huh.” With her free hand, she grabbed the latte and took a sip.

“Gran thinks it holds a special power.”

Madison chose that moment to swallow, and the creamy espresso went down the wrong pipe. A dry, hacking cough followed, and she dropped her hand weight, which thudded on the carpet. For heaven’s sake, he didn’t hear her, did he?
