Beth Trissel Author of Somewhere My Lady
Give a warm welcome to Beth Trissel, author of Somewhere My Lady, first in the Ladies in Time series released on July 12, 2017!
Pull up a chair, grab a drink of your choice from the cooler, or there’s a pitcher of Lemonade on the counter, along with a plate of Chocolate Chip or Peanut Butter cookies. Let’s find out a little about Beth and her new time travel adventure, Somewhere My Lady.
Thanks so much for having on your blog, Tena. I’m excited to be back into time travels again. I’ve been on break, writing YA fantasy and historical romance. Time travels suit my flighty attention span. The blend of history, mystery, fantasy, romance, and the paranormal in Somewhere My Lady (Book 1, Ladies in Time) were a fun meld. I set the story in my home state of Virginia, as I have all my time travels thus far. Although, that’s not necessarily where the characters end up.
I love old homes and have lived in them most of my life. The homeplace on my father’s side of the family (circa 1816) is the inspiration behind all the old homes I write—and it’s haunted. Naturally, Harrison Hall in Somewhere My Lady has ghosts. They took shape in my mind on their own.
I live on a farm in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley that’s been in my husband’s family for several generations, but the story unfolds in an 18th century manor along the James River. Harrison Hall, in Somewhere My Lady, is partly fashioned after Shirley Plantation.
I’m fascinated with the past and enjoy researching different eras. Not only do I sometimes get plot ideas this way, but it helps me bring the story to life. Research into family genealogy is the original inspiration behind my writing. My ancestors arrived in the early colonial days and left interesting accounts. One line goes back to Jamestown, another to the Salem Witch Trials. They were caught up in the French and Indian War, some taken captive, and fought in the American Revolution, the Civil War…
Gardening is also a passion of mine. I love growing herbs and heirlooms flowers with their deep connection to the past. I included a lovely garden in Somewhere My Lady, and used herbs in the story. It’s richly fragrant.
Oh, I love gardening too! I’m so excited, this year my garden is fantastic! Crossing my fingers we don’t get softball sized hail like we did last year that destroyed everything. Any way, tell us a bit more about Somewhere My Lady.
Lorna Randolph is hired for the summer at Harrison Hall in Virginia, where Revolutionary-War reenactors provide guided tours of the elegant old home. She doesn’t expect to receive a note and a kiss from the handsome young man who then vanishes into mist.
Harrison Hall itself has plans for Lorna – and for Hart Harrison, her momentary suitor and its 18th century heir. Past and present are bound by pledges of love, and modern science melds with old skills and history as Harrison Hall takes Lorna and Hart through time in a race to solve a mystery and save Hart’s life before the Midsummer Ball.
***‘Somewhere My Lady is a fun supernatural romance that will have you slipping in and out of the past and future as if you were a spirit yourself.’’ ~Colleen’s Book Reviews
Can we have a peek between the pages?
Something about him held her spellbound…the tilt of his head, arch of his brow, glimpse of his profile… She followed his every move with the fixity of an owl.
He turned blue-gray eyes toward her and sensuous lips curved into a smile on his handsome face. Hands down. No contest. He was the hottest guy ever. Her heart beat a thrilling new rhythm.
He circled closer to where she stood rooted in the foyer, not moving a toe, scarcely drawing breath. Did he truly see her backed tremulously against the wall, or did it only feel that way?
Unlike the others in the ghostly assembly, his eyes didn’t skirt past her. He paused in the dance. Bending at the shoulders, he tipped his hand to her in a genteel flourish.
He’d freakin’ bowed. Her jaw dropped. He most definitely saw her. And she sure as heck saw him.
A sparking sizzle jumped between them, awakening her as she’d never been roused before. Even more than when the house charged through her at her arrival. It was as if she were plugged in—to him.
How that could be, she had no idea, but when he gazed into her eyes, time seemed to stop. She spiraled into moonless stars, and back again to this dizzying realm. To him. Even if she were dreaming, she’d never forget this moment.~
Somewhere My Lady is available from all major online booksellers. In Kindle at Amazon
About the author:
Married to my high school sweetheart, I live on a farm in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia surrounded by my human family and furbabies. An avid gardener, my love of herbs and heirloom plants figures into my work. The rich history of Virginia, the Native Americans, and the people who journeyed here from far beyond her borders are at the heart of my inspiration. I’m especially drawn to colonial America and the drama of the American Revolution. And I love a good ghost story. In addition to Young Adult and New Adult fantasy romance, I also write historical, time travel, and paranormal romance, plus nonfiction.

Fury of a Viking by Sky Purington
Give a warm welcome to Sky Purington, author of Fury of a Viking, fourth in the MacLomine series Viking Ancestors’ Kin just released on April 17,2017!
Pull up a chair, grab a drink of your choice from the cooler, a Chocolate Chip or Peanut Butter cookie from the plate, and let’s find out a little about Fury of a Viking and Sky. Make sure you read all the way down and enter the Rafflecopter!
Here’s a snippet from Fury of a Viking:
He had learned an awful lot today and suffered from years of being haunted. Now his son was gone. So she figured if he wasn’t latching on to every little thing she said right away, that was okay. One step at a time. “You should get some rest, Matthew.”
“Yes,” he murmured. Yet the second she went to move, he grabbed her wrist gently. When he spoke, she realized he had, in fact, processed all of what she’d said. More than that, he must be catching glimpses of what she had seen. “There’s more to this. More to Uncle Kjar having my son. Somehow, they’re in that other place. Helheim.” He clenched his jaw as he struggled to come to terms with that. It seemed he had also telepathically caught what she hadn’t told him based on what he said next. “Do not put Emily’s life at risk for this, Shannon.” He shook his head. “And don’t put yours at risk either.”
She could tell by the way he said it, the emotion in his voice, that he fully understood why she held back. More than that, he agreed with her. He didn’t want Emily in harm’s way. Even if she could lead him to his son.
“I’m so sorry,” she whispered, guilt ridden. But she had to put her daughter first. “I just can’t put my baby in that kind of danger.” Emotion thickened her throat just like it had his. “Please forgive me.”
“There is nothing to forgive.” He cupped her cheek. “I would not allow you or Emily to be put in harm’s way. Not for anything, Shannon.”
“But he’s your son,” she managed to say into his mind because her vocal chords refused to work. “How can you…”
The next thing she knew his lips brushed hers. It was brief but so profound she lost her breath as he pulled away just enough that their lips remained centimeters from one another. “One of our children is already in harm’s way. Another will not be added to it.”
Shannon barely processed his words she was so caught up in his taste lingering on her lips. Had he said our children? He had, right? Yet she couldn’t focus on that. All she could do was run her tongue over her lips and relish the flavor. His flavor. It almost felt like she could taste what he was made of. And it wasn’t what she expected.
“You used to laugh and smile all the time,” she whispered before she could stop herself. For a flicker of a moment, she could see his smile. Hear his laughter. Then it faded. Long ago. Shannon closed her eyes and pulled away. He had been taken down a path he didn’t deserve all because there was a glitch in the system. All because…
Her eyes shot open.
The cave was gone. The water at her feet vanished. Now she stood on a shore with hundreds of men and women coming together. Vikings with their blades drawn and fury on their faces. Battle raged. Matthew, Sigrunn, Freydis and so many more, fought, determined to conquer.
This was the infamous battle that took so much from Matthew.
Seconds later he vanished yet the battle raged on.
Yet she knew where he went.
It all made sense now.

Author, Casi McLean Thrills with Beneath The Lake
Give a big welcome to Casi McLean, author of Beneath The Lake. Have a seat and grab an insulated mug, there’s hot chocolate, hot cider and coffee on the counter. Choose your pot, they’re labeled. Pick your choice of a Snicker-doodle, Chocolate Chip or Peanut butter cookie from the plate. Yep, I baked them myself. Casi’s tell us about your inspiration for Beneath the lake. Thanks for joining us!
I love to talk about my, Beneath The Lake, and the eerie lake lore that inspired my muse. A town that time forgot––the history and creepy stories attached to a rural area that sleeps beneath Atlanta’s famous man-made lake, Sidney Lanier, fascinated me. Homes, churches and businesses still linger beneath the surface. The moonshiners of the 1940’s added built-in suspense, and the birth of NASCAR. Looper Speedway, a half-mile dirt track where bootleggers competed with their souped-up cars, exposed its cement stands in a recent draught.
There’s a Lady of the Lake who haunts the ghost town too––the spine-chilling lore is the basis for book three in my Beneath The Lake series, Between The Shadows. Some say she lures victims to her watery grave. The truth is, swimmers get trapped among the deadfall of sheered-off trees and town remains. Even expert divers get tangled beneath the murky surface, hence the lake’s unnerving label: Lanier never gives up its dead. The inspiration swirled in my mind, begging for a story to be told. What a perfect setting for my romantic time-slip suspense series.
Why time-slip? Ever since my childhood imagination discovered Madeleine L’Engles, A Wrinkle In Time, the idea of time travel intrigued me. And Lake Lanier, a man-made lake with mesmerizing history, presented a plausible theory. What if the excavation explosions triggered a seismic shift? Given enough energy, could the blasts rip a portal into a different dimension or a crack in time? The possibilities were endless.
The birth of Lacey Montgomery evolved through my young adult love for Jude Deveraux’s A Knight In Shining Armor. The time-slip novel introduced her endearing Montgomery family. I hope my books honor her inspiration. My high school friend, Hilary Johnson, inspired the persona of my heroine, Lacey Montgomery. A lawyer, discouraged with defending criminals, yearned to help honest people in trouble. Some of Hillary’s finer qualities became part of Lacey––the dysfunctional relationships came from my own personal experiences. LOL. Once these elements entwined, Beneath The Lake blossomed with an energy and life of its own.
The sequel, Beyond The Mist, picks up where the first story ends incorporating two minor characters as the new hero and heroine. Beyond The Mist is complete, in editing, and will be published in a few months.

Blurb –
A ghost town submerged beneath Atlanta’s famous man-made Lake Lanier reportedly lures victims to a watery grave. But when Lacey Montgomery’s car spins out of control and hurtles into the depths of the icy water, she awakens in the arms of a stranger, in a town she’s never heard of–34 years before she was born.
When the 2012 lawyer tangles with a 1949 hunk, fire and ice swirl into a stream of sweltering desire. Bobby Reynolds is smitten the moment the storm-ravaged woman opens her eyes and, despite adamant protest, Lacey falls in love with a town destined for extinction, and the man who vows to save his legacy.
Threatened by a nefarious stalker, the wrath of bootleggers, and twists of fate, Lacey must find the key to a mysterious portal before time rips the lovers apart, leaving their star-crossed spirits to wander forever through a ghost town buried beneath the lake.
Excerpt:
Lake Lanier, Georgia—June 2011
A final thud hurled him backward, flailing through brush and thickets like a rag doll. Grasping at anything to break momentum, Rob’s hand clung to a branch wedged into the face of the precipice. Spiny splinters sliced his skin. Blood oozed and trickled into his palms, and one by one, his fingers slowly slipped.
A sharp crack echoed through the silence of the ravine as the bough succumbed to his weight. He plummeted into free-fall. Clenching his eyes, he drew in a deep breath, terrified of the pain, the mauling that waited on the jagged rocks below.
When icy water broke his fall, the chill kept him from losing consciousness. He spun, straining to see, but darkness enveloped him. Soggy clothing pulled him deeper—deeper into the murky, fathomless depths. He wrestled to squirm free from the waterlogged jacket dragging him down to a watery grave, watched the coat disappear into black obscurity. Panic gripped his stomach, or was it death that snaked around his chest, squeezing, squeezing, squeezing the air, the life from his body? Lack of oxygen burned his lungs, beckoning surrender, and a shard of rage pierced his gut as reality set in. He lunged upward with one last thrust and burst from the water’s deadly grip, gasping for air. A gurgling howl spewed from the depths of his soul and echoed into silence.
Sunlight shimmered across a smooth, indigo lake, but aside from the slight ripples of his own paddling, nothing but stillness surrounded him. He floated toward the shore, sucking deep breaths into his lungs until the pummeling in his chest subsided. When he reached the water’s edge, he hoisted his body onto the soft red clay and collapsed while the sun’s warmth drained the tension from his body.
No one knew he had survived. The rules had shifted. Now he could reinvent himself, become a stealth predator. His target: Lacey Madison Montgomery.
