An impromptu assignment for a Scottish Warrior Angel and a Native American shapeshifter from present day, must time travel to 1878 in an effort to unravel a dangerous mystery
A little about An Angel’s Wylder Assignment:
Warrior Angel Killian Dugan’s annual trip to the family castle in Scotland is shattered by the arrival of Legion Commander North. Killian’s skills are needed for an urgent time travel assignment. A rogue demon has escaped back in time. He must discover the why and where and stop the demon before it can damage the past and change the future.
Killian’s girlfriend Chinoah Grace, a Native American shapeshifter is included in the mission which takes them to the wild west town of Wylder, Wyoming in the year 1878. She will have her hands full fitting in and making friends.
Nothing is as it seems. They encounter visions, spirit quests, and a mysterious shaman. On top of it all, blending in as a blacksmith is more physically difficult than he imagined. But not as challenging as keeping his hands off his undercover wife. Will they complete their assignment or run out of time?
A new peek between the pages of An Angel’s Wylder Assignment:
He turned his attention out the window where the snow swirled in the howling wind. “Besides, who in bloody hell would be calling at this time of night and in this weather?”
She raised an eyebrow and shrugged. “Only one group of individuals I know.”
“Oh, no. I’m on leave. They didn’t know where I was going. Besides, they wouldn’t expect me to be here.” The ancient wooden door groaned then made a squeeing sound when Killian yanked it open. “What in tarnation are you doing here?”
Chinoah stood on tiptoe and stepped to the side to see who was at the door. “Angels always know. At least that’s what you tell me,” she whispered against his ear.
He shot her a warning glance and turned his attention to the situation at hand.
“Nice to see you too.” Warrior Legion Commander Nathanial North stood on the stoop with Sean, two of his warrior angels, and Caden, who was now a liaison to the legion rather than a warrior, due to injuries.
At first, Killian held tight to the door. “So am I to assume this is not a social visit?” Large wet snowflakes swirled around the visitors and into the doorway.
“If you let us in, I’ll tell you the reason for our visit.” Nat glanced up at the snow drifting over his warriors.
“Oh, of course.” He grudgingly stepped back, gently moving Chinoah over, and allowed the warriors to enter. “Can I get you something? Coffee?”
“I’ve cinnamon rolls frozen. Only take a few minutes to thaw and warm them up?” Chinoah offered, turning toward the kitchen.
“We’d appreciate your offerings. It’s damn cold out there.” Nat extended his hand.
He hesitantly took his offered hand. “Don’t make me sorry I let you guys in. I’m on holiday for part of November and the entire month of December. Planning on spending the holidays with my cousin and his family.”
Nat frowned and pursed his lips. “You may have to adjust your plans.”
“Aww shit. I knew it. The problem is that my cousin won’t be back for three weeks. I promised to take care of the castle while he’s gone. It’s an arrangement we have every year. Lowers my stress and keeps me from ending up like Caden.” He couldn’t help adding the little jab. Caden was a liaison to the legion due to what boiled down to PTSD angel style during a dark demon battle.
“This year I was planning on spending the holidays with Tavish’s family.” Killian reluctantly motioned the group of men to have a seat in the room facing the huge stone fireplace. “Can’t it wait until after the holidays?”
“I’m afraid not. Caden and Mystic have offered to take your place here at your cousin’s home. Your assignment can’t wait.” Nat grimaced.
He huffed out a breath. “How bad is it?”

NaNoWriMo 2022-A Tale of 50,000 Words in 30 Days-WOW!
Along with millions of writers around the world, (okay maybe not millions, but close) I’m participating in National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWrimo). Although in my defense, I did just have a complete hip replacement surgery on October 5th. My muse took off for parts unknown for a few days, could be the drugs that made my mind feel disconnected from my body. Not to mention sitting for periods longer than 30 minutes was impossible. However, now five weeks from surgery, I can sit for at least an hour at a time and my NaNoWriMo project is finally starting to take shape. Yippee!! I may not make the 50,000 words this year, but I’ll give it a valent try. Check back and see how I am doing. I could use a cheering section. LOL
Twenty-eight days 51,237, yippee, I made it. Wasn’t pretty, but against all odds I did it.
A challenge to write fifty-thousand words in thirty days. For weeks, our minds have worked out the logistics of the story, our fingers are twitching to tap that keyboard and kick off the race to our latest novel. The National Novel Writing Month challenge is a great confidence builder and something we writers look forward to November 1st every year.
NaNoWriMo as it’s fondly referred to has become somewhat of a tradition for me starting in 2010. I’ve made my goal of at least 50,000 words every year since with the exception of 2013. That year I failed miserably at only 17000 words. My day job was a monster, the hours were long, and by the time I arrived home, I was the monster. Anyone know what I mean? But I digress, at 17,000 I still had a working story, plot and characters. Yeah! Finished it up in the months that followed, polished the manuscript and submitted it. Since that time, I left the monster of a day job and writing is now my full-time gig, and I love it. A Witch’s Quandary is my 15th novel since my debut novel, A Demon’s Witch release in September of 2015.
Fifteen novels that NaNoWriMo helped me to create have been published by The Wild Rose Press. 2020’s NaNo project, A Witch’s Quandary was released July 13, 2021. Yippee! Sixth book in A Demon’s Witch Series!
Check out the trailer:
Last years NaNo Projects An Angel’s Wylder Assignment (part of the Wyyder West Multi-author Series) released March of 2022. Something a little different for me, its a historical, western, time travel, fantasy, mystery adventure. Whew! Last year NanoI also started work on Merringue Snofwflake Magic, for the Christmas Cookie Series a Paranormal Romance/Mystery. Didn’t quite get it finished during Nano, but did later and it’s release is November 14, 2022!
Download a copy today and join the magical, romantic fantasy adventure, you’ll never want to leave!
This year for NaNoWriMo I’ll be working on the second cozy mystery in my Mountain Town Mysteries. The first book in this series, Security Force of Two is scheduled for release in 2023. .Along with the Romance Writers of America and Pikes Peak Writers group, who gave me the tools, NaNoWriMo gave me the confidence needed to stick my toe in the murky waters of the publishing industry. The 50,000 words, approximately 1,667 per day, usually is three-quarters of a pretty darn good novel. Each year I build on what I’ve learned throughout the year and use it to complete the NaNoWriMo challenge. The camaraderie among participants is phenomenal making the challenge a fun way to kick off the holidays!
Wish me luck! Keep checking back for updates on my progress this year. Will I make the 50,000 words? Only time will tell, but you can bet I’ll do my best! I know you’ll be cheering me on! If you have a chance, I’d love you to leave me comments of encouragement.
Have a fun and safe Thanksgiving! Eat lots of turkey and enjoy family and friends. After all that’s what its all about!

White Sands Gold by Mike Torreano
Give a warm welcome to Mike Torreano, author of White Sands Gold., set to release September 5, 2022. Pull up a chair, grab a drink of your choice from the cooler, a Chocolate Chip or Peanut Butter cookie from the plate, and let’s find out a little about Mike and his White Sands Gold.
Mike, what inspired this story?
By all means let’s here what she has to say.
Interview with Ma Richards, White Sands Gold
New Mexico Territory, 1890
With the Las Cruces Courier
LCC: “Thank you for sitting with me for a few minutes, Ma. May I call you Ma?”
Ma sat in the rocking chair on her weathered front porch next to her visitor and looked up from her knitting. “Of course, dearie, everyone does, but for the life of me I can’t think why anyone would be interested in me? An old lady who doesn’t do much more than sit here and rock these days.”
LCC: “You’re selling yourself short, Ma. Everyone knows you have a way of keeping things under control around town. Have for years.”
Ma: “Me? Not sure what you mean. I just run this little boarding house here at the end of the street. Not much to look at, is it? Could use a coat of paint.”
LCC: “Yes, about that. We don’t see many people come and go here, how ever do you keep the place open?”
Ma: “Oh, I get by. The Good Lord provides.” She returned to her clacking needles.
LCC: The reporter scooched his chair closer and leaned forward. “There’s rumors that you lead a group of men called guardians. That they—”
Ma: “Oh, Pshaw. Do I look like I would be up to doing something like that?” A slight pause. “And what are these ‘guardians’ supposed to do?”
LCC: “Some think there’s a treasure trove of gold bars hidden under Victorio Peak north of here. Maybe thousands of them. Legend says the guardians were formed to protect some sort of religious relic hidden next to the gold. That they kill anyone who searches for it.”
Ma: “My, my. Sounds very scary. People do have some imaginations, don’t they?”
LCC: “The story goes that guardians have been doing this for centuries.”
Ma: “Centuries? Why, that’d make them quite old by now.” She smiled, then rested her hand on the reporter’s. “Excuse my manners, can I get you some tea?”
LCC: “Thank you, but do you have coffee?”
Ma: “Oh, coffee’s too strong for me. I find that it upsets my delicate constitution.” She flashed her big smile at the reporter.
LCC: “You must have boarders right now. I can hear kitchen sounds coming through the open front door.”
Ma: “Why, yes I just happen to. I give them free rein of the kitchen. Maybe I shouldn’t, though. Never can tell what they’ll get in to.” Just then, a young man pushed the front screen door open and stood near the reporter, staring down. He reached out a hand to Ma. “It’s all right, Twill, no need to worry. I think that’s all this young person wanted to ask, anyway. Isn’t it?” She looked at the reporter with another big smile.
LCC: “Yes, I guess it is.”
Ma rose with help from Twill as the reporter started to hurry away.
Not so fast, tell us a little more about White Sands Gold.
New Mexico Territory, 1890
In a hidden cavern, a fortune in gold bars sits alongside an ancient relic.
To find her treasure-hunting brother, Lottie Durham enlists the help of an easygoing lawman. When a mysterious woman known only as Ma asks her to join the relic’s guardians, Lottie’s world spins. Why her, and should she take on this solemn obligation?
Twill, leader of the secretive guardians, has sworn a vow to protect the centuries-old religious relic. Regrets bedevil him and his dedication to his oath is repeatedly tested. If he breaks his promise, he’ll fail Ma, the one person he’s never wanted to let down.
Will a looming raid by a band of determined killers be the end of the guardians, the gold, and the relic?
How about a sneak peek between the pages?
Lottie lowered to the damp ground, which brought the deputy down as well. She fought the urge to look his way. She was alone in the desert wrapped in a semi-bear hug with a man she met yesterday. She eased a hand to her holster and picked the leather loop off her hammer. Probably didn’t need a gun to protect against someone who’d already saved her life, but…in case he tried something.
The deputy snugged his hat lower and shut his eyes.
“Hold on, cowboy. We can’t be sittin’ here just sleepin’. I mean…you oughta be talkin’ to me, reassurin’ me. How about it?”
He two-fingered his hat up a touch. “You seem to be able to take care of yourself fair, you should probably be reassurin’ me.” He glanced sideways at her, his face not more than a few inches away.
That same half-smile that had been so irritating somehow didn’t look so annoying anymore.

An Angel’s Wylder Assignment – New Release #MFRWHooks
Today I’m excited, along with #MFRWHooks to present AN ANGEL’S WYLDER ASSIGNMENT. Part of the multi-author WylderWest Series from The Wild Rose Press. Have a seat and grab an insulated mug. I’ve got hot chocolate, hot cider and coffee. Choose your pot, they’re labeled. Pick your choice of a Snicker-doodle, Chocolate Chip or Peanut butter cookie from the plate. Yep, I baked them myself. Shall we find out a wee bit about AN ANGEL’S WYLDER ASSIGNMENT?
First off, AN ANGEL’S WYLDER ASSIGNMENT releasing today is Chinoah & Killian’s sage which began in AN ANGEL’S UNINTENTIONAL ENTANGLEMENT https://buff.ly/2SpF2tF, part of A Demon’s Witch Series. Anyhoo, I plucked them out of An Angel’s Unintentional Entanglement and set a course from present-day Scotland for a time travel, mystery, adventure set in Wylder, Wyoming Territory 1878.
This book was an adventure in itself for me. Because paranormal is anything I can imagine and have an overactive imagination, I can write anything I want and make it work. I love magic. So it was quite a change to have to do research. What was life like in 1878? What appliances were available, hot and cold running water? Not so much unless you were rich. Mode of transportation, horse and buggy or on foot? Then, the blacksmith craft my hero was saddled with in the assignment. Yes, there is magic. What a learning curve. Not to mention creating a fictional community with other authors and their characters. Whew! In the end, An Angel’s Wylder Assignment was exactly what I envisioned. I hope you’ll grab a copy and come along for the fantastic adventure.
What’s the story about you ask:
Did I mention there is an adorable dog that saves the day?
A peek between the pages of AN ANGEL’S WYLDER ASSIGNMENT.
Inside the family castle in Scotland, Killian put aside his warrior angel duties and relaxed in front of a roaring fire with Chinoah, a Native American wolf shifter.
He idly swirled wine in a cut crystal glass, watching the flames glint off the burgundy liquid. It was his duty to take care of the property while his cousin, Tavish, and his family were on holiday before the highland’s harsh winter weather set in.
This year he’d be staying through the holidays, though Chinoah didn’t know it yet.
Who says a battle-ready warrior angel couldn’t handle both duty and family. Bollocks to that. His best friend, Caden, did it. Well, kinda. Legion Commander Nathanial North balanced both just fine.
He slipped an arm around Chinoah. She cuddled into him as he pulled the patchwork quilt Jalen, Tavish’s wife, had made and given them to celebrate their hard-won relationship status of dating. One step at a time, Chinoah had requested.
The brass door knocker echoed through the castle announcing visitors.
With a raised brow, he peered at Chinoah. “Expecting guests, are we?”
“Not as far as I know.” She got to her feet and padded across the stone floor.
“Wait.” Grumbling, he pushed up from the cozy warm couch, slipped his socked feet back into his boots, and clomped toward her. “Best let me answer the door since we don’t know who’s waiting on the other side.”
She slowed her pace to allow him to catch up with her. “This castle is huge. By the time we get to the door, the visitors may be gone.” She giggled.
“Way to keep in shape.” Chuckling, he kissed her. “Apparently, my cousin made the original great hall into their family living space.”
“God help us if we’re in the bed-chamber when someone comes calling.” She snickered. “We’d have to sprint down the balcony hallway, across the split staircase, and through the great hall. By then, the visitors would have decided no one was home.”
“Which could have been Tavish’s plan.” He smiled at the thought. “Besides, I didn’t hear you complain last evening when you thundered through the castle for a couple of hours on four paws.”
“That was different. My wolf needed the exercise, and you didn’t want me to go outside.” Her lips formed a pout that he found irresistible.
“Didn’t want to spring you from a trap.” He turned his attention out the window where the snow swirled in the howling wind.
