Welcome to #L&SR’s #Wednesday’s Blog Challenge December 11, 2019, My Earliest Memory.
Welcome to #L&SR’s #Wednesday’s Blog Challenge December 11, 2019, My Earliest Memory. Today because it is the Christmas Season, I’m taking the liberty of tweaking the topic just a bit to– My Earliest and Fondest Christmas Memory!
My Earliest and Fondest Christmas memory: The one and only year my mom decided to drive from Colorado to Iowa to spend Christmas with her family. I was only four or five-years-old and the only fear I had as we drove through a blinding blizzard and nearly got stuck in a huge snow drift was there was no way Santa would find me. Eventually we did make it safe and sound to Iowa. My uncle had to carry me and our luggage out of the car to the house because the snow had drifted up to my waist. This was the first and only year my mom and I spent Christmas away from home. It was so much fun with all my cousins, uncle’s and aunt’s all snowed in at my grandparent’s house. Looking back, I don’t imagine the adults thought it was all that much fun. It was a small house and boy was it crowded. When Christmas morning came, Santa had found all of us and the squeals of joy could be heard for miles.
Being the only child in a single parent home, I still remember sitting down for Christmas dinner with turkey and all the trimming that year awed at the number of people seated at the big table, let alone the number of kids wriggling around the not much smaller kid table. Best Christmas ever.
Do you have a fond Christmas Memory? I’d love to hear about it. Tell me about your memory in the comments.
Alas, I need to get back to my writing cave where deadlines loom, so let’s see what other authors list as their Earliest Memory. L&SR

A trip to his estranged sister’s home in Colorado may have unforeseen consequences especially when family history leads him to a shocking discovery.
As his attraction blooms for Josie, a yoga instructor in his sister’s studio, he realizes there may be more to Josie than he can imagine. When an ancient rogue Fae Warrior set on revenge kidnaps her in an attempt to claim her as his own, a devastating curse comes to light.

When I was very little, we always had HUGE bashes on Thanksgiving and Christmas. I miss them. I’m glad you got to have at least one.
Yes, it was a wonderful memory. Thanks so much for stopping by Marianne! I really appreciate it!
We would sometimes go to my aunt’s for Thanksgiving (that was once we were grown) and I loved having all the people around. We had a small family, though, and always had a small Christmas and Thanksgiving growing up (funnily enough, I don’t remember Thanksgiving as much as I do Christmas). My post is here.
We lived next door to my grandparents and all our holiday meals were spent at their house, as well as Sunday dinner. I had a great-uncle who was skinny as a rail and he always dressed as Santa and visited on Christmas Eve. We never thought to question why Santa was so thin, we were just super excited he was there. With all the aunts, uncles, and cousins, we were a sizeable bunch, but somehow the soup pot never ran dry.
What a wonderful memory! Thanks for stopping by!
Wow, that must have been a huge storm! Your mom must have been a great driver. And I’m glad your uncle carried you to safety after you arrived. That’s lovely. 🙂
My post.
It was quite the storm. A lot probably had to do with how small I was and how deep the snow appeared to me as a child. LOL Thanks so much for stopping by!
That’s a wonderful memory for this time of year!
Thanks Aymee. Glad you stopped by!
That sounds like quite an experience! My favorite holidays anymore are the quiet ones (though I think that was true in my youth, too). I do have some fond memories of the times when when we gathered with the All The Cousins, though my brother and I were among the youngest of them.
My post is here.
Wonderful memory, Tena. https://pmprescott.blogspot.com/2019/12/my-earlest-memory.html
Thank you for stopping by Patrick! Happy Holidays!
My memories of Christmas involve getting stuck in a snowbank in the lane at my grandfather’s house. The lane would get loaded with snow and be impossible to get through. We had to walk up the lane with our presents and I was so afraid my new doll would get blown away in the blizzard. I can’t remember how old I was, but I was thrilled I was given a porcelain doll for Christmas. I didn’t want to lose it. I didn’t, but I also hope I never have to walk in that snowy lane that way again.
WOW what a memory. Where did you live or where did your grandparents live at that time?
