Winter’s Kiss by Author Darlene Fredette
Today Author’s secrets is excited to host Darlene Fredette on her new release blog tour for Winter’s Kiss. She has a giveaway for visitors who leave a comment on any stop during her tour, and additional giveaways for visitors who leave a comment on her blog.
Give a big welcome to Darlene Fredette, author of Winter’s Kiss. Have a seat and grab a ceramic mug. There’s hot chocolate, hot cider and coffee on the table. Choose your pot, they’re labeled. Grab a Snicker-doodle, Chocolate Chip or Peanut butter cookie from the plate. Yep, I baked them myself. Darlene, tell us a little about writing this book and being an author in general.
What inspired this particular story?
That’s a good question because Winter’s Kiss obviously takes place in winter, and I am not a fan of this particular season. I don’t like cold or snow, so you’d think all of my stories would be based in a summery setting, lol. However, I do like the idea of sitting by a warm fire, a cup of hot apple cider, a horse sleigh ride…perfect inspiration for a story.
What secret do you use to blast through writer’s block?
I step away. It might just take a few hours, an evening, or perhaps a day, but stepping away from my story allows the inspiration and ideas to return instead of being forced. If I’m too in the moment, sometimes I can’t get the words to come out, but if I step away and let the scene rest, fresh thoughts form and the scene comes together much easier.
Do you see yourself in your characters?
Good heavens no, lol. I’m not nearly as adventurous as my characters. Their lives are more exciting…and sometimes troublesome. I prefer calm and quiet.
What do you like to do when you are not writing?
I love to be with my family (husband, teenage daughter, and Yellow Lab). We can be home hanging out in the yard, watching movies, or playing games. And in the spring and summer, taking day trips to the Valley or renting a cottage for the weekend.
Let’s see what Winter’s Kiss is all about. I love that cover!
Nothing thaws the chill faster than a warm winter kiss.
She’s been on a flight from hell for over eight hours, lost four hours of daylight, and arrived in temperatures twenty degrees lower than accustomed to. Disliking winter for a reason she refuses to discuss, Danielle Lerato would rather be anywhere than in Redford Falls. She needs to get the job done and return home before getting caught up in the small town’s charm…and the arms of the handsome, brown-eyed restaurant owner.
Andrew Haley’s first encounter with the buttery blonde didn’t go so well, and he well-remembers the chill of the glass of water she dumped over his head. Now, two years later, a raging storm drops Danielle back into his life. She’s determined to leave, but he’ll do whatever it takes to convince her to fall in love with Redford Falls…and him.
Can we have a sneak peek into Winter’s Kiss?
Danielle probably looked a hideous mess. Her hair had come loose from the clip on the top of her head. Sleep masked her eyes. She wanted nothing more than to wash her face and sterilize her hands from the airborne germs she encountered on the plane. “I’ve been on the flight from hell for over eight hours. I’ve lost four hours of daylight, and the temperature here is twenty degrees lower than where I live.” She pulled the straps of her leather jacket tight around her waist. “I have to rent a car and drive two hours to a small town where, if I blink I’ll miss it.” She waved a pointed finger in the air for dramatic effect. “I’d rather be anywhere but here.”
